Ring of the Fey Lord (DM:Atanatotatos, Judge:Lord Sessadore)Up:Lorik, etc.

[sblock=little skill challenge]Alright, you're interrogating the gnome. This is a simple skill challenge, 4 successes before 2 failures, DC 18.
Relevant skills: all social skills.
Other skills can be useful if you convince me so. You roll once per turn, one check each.
Bonuses or penalties ranging from +2/+4 for well (or badly) rp'ed checks, or even more if the action is "key" in the situation (like, trying to intimidate a Balor at first level will never be successful, even with a roll of 50 :P)
A check counts as two successes if it beats the DC by 10 or more.
In this case, Heinrich's roll nets you 2 successes.[/sblock]

The gnome is shaking. Yes...yes... I want to live, I want to, don't hurt me! I swear, I swear... I'll be useful.
Yes, he's crapping himself indeed.

Haruka leans against a nearby tree as she recovers her strength. It may just be a trick of the light, but the tree's leaves seem to droop and wither, only slightly.

[sblock=ooc]Assuming this is short rest time, I'm spending two healing surges to regain 14 hp, taking me up to 27/30[/sblock]

She then walks towards the gnome and kneels in front of him, diplomatically ignoring the smell emanating from his breeches. As she talks, she gently holds one of his hands in both of hers.

"Such small, fragile things," she murmurs, running her fingers along the bones in his hands. She looks up into the gnome's eyes and smiles softly. "I really think it would be the best thing for everyone if you told us what your business is with this ring, why you and your ilk have been tormenting Mr. Gord, and why you attacked us when all we wanted to do was talk."

Suddenly, Haruka's grip tightens and her smile hardens. "Because otherwise, we're going to hand you over to the bugbear. And he looks like the type who has experience with breaking small, fragile things."

Haruka looks over her shoulder and smiles at Heinrich, "No offense."

[sblock=Intimidate Check]11 son of a...I guess Heinrich already overloaded his capacity for terror. Yes, yes, that's my excuse.[/sblock]

The gnome seems to recompose himself slightly. He looks hard in the eyes of the woman, and answers: I... I just serve Lord Arnamil, that is all!

[sblock=insight 15]the gnome doesn't seem honest...[/sblock]

ooc:first failure... 2/1

[sblock=Insight]22. Though I'd probably have accused him of lying either way, just on principle.[/sblock]"If I may..." Derien gestures for a place beside Haruka, near the frightened gnome. "These people are very angry with you. You and your fellows tried to kill us, after all. But I don't think that's why you were sent here, was it? You were sent to retrieve a ring, a ring your victim no longer has. I'm sure your Lord Arnamil didn't believe that, but it's true. Mister Gord, here, hired us to find it, so we could give it back to its proper owners."

"You're more than just a servant. We can help each other, but only if you tell us everything."
[sblock=Diplomacy]Another 22[/sblock]

Galinndan retrieves his spear from the soil, before approaching the trembling gnome. He commences to give the gnome hard look, while cleaning his blades on the unsoiled parts of his clothing. "The elf is quite right. We are looking for an excuse to have your head," he says letting the sentence trail off as he continues giving the menacing eye.

[sblock=Intimidate]1d20+7=25, and I believe that may be Crapapalooza round 2[/sblock]

When Lorik's vision returns, he yawns and stretches his arms before sheathing his sword and shield and burying his hands in his pockets. He strolls over to the rest of the group and rests up against a tree, watching the interrogation with mild interest.

[sblock=OOC]Taking a short rest to get back those encounter powers, and burning a healing surge to take him up to 28 HP[/sblock]

[sblock=For those of you spending healing surges...]It looks like we'll be here a while, so feel free to add 1d6+4 (my healing word bonus) to each surge you spend. Mind you, we may well sleep after this, making that kind of thriftiness irrelevant, but just in case...[/sblock]

The gnome looks broken. He's clearly frightened to death, but he also seems to see a small hope in the words of the elf. He thinks hard for a few moments, biting his lips till blood drips, then he gives in, lowering his head and mumbling: I'll tell the truth. I'm not servant of Lord Arnamil. he looks up for a second to see the adventurers' reaction: I serve the Lady of Nighmares of the eastern skirts of the reign.

ooc:Success!

[sblock=ooc]you could make history or streetwie checks to see if you know or have heard something similar. High DC, though.[/sblock]
edit:It's the LadY of nightmares, not "Lad" :D though that might have been original...
