Round 0
Alenysturathe stretched and gave a massive, open-jawed yawn that sent a few of the refugees scurrying away from her form. She groaned, stretching out stiffness and her aching back. She had not slept well! She missed her lair back at Castle Refuge.
She shook out her wings and then folded them down again before shifting, shrinking down to human form and walking into camp. At least she wasn’t hungry. The magic of the ley line had sated her well and would last for weeks. The breakfast gruel didn’t look particularly appetizing.
“Gods, I am so tired,” the teenage girl yawned and slumped down next to Dawn. She leaned into the dog-girl and rested her head on the cyber-knight’s shoulder to doze while the others ate.
Soon they were making their way south, back to Castle Refuge. As they leave the ruins of the city, however, they see a grouping of figures in the distance, several people and vehicles.
“What’s that?” Alenys asked, squinting to try and see better. Then she swung her backpack off and dug around inside, finally finding the infrared distancing binoculars she had picked up before leaving the Castle. She turned them around a few times, trying to figure out how to use them.
“Um...Dawn, how does this work?” she asked, holding the binoculars out to the cyber-knight. “The quartermaster said they help you see farther.”
