Any suggestions of how this could play out and/or motivations between Nezznar and the other drow? I will read the thread again, there were several good ideas embedded there. I might have access to that old 4e module, I will have to check.
How about this
Nezznar: Trying to craft an item that will allow him to regain drow form. Hopes to use the drow mercenaries from the outpost as a power base with which to re-enter drow society if he can manage to construct the item. Needs to hide his nature from the mercenaries in the mean time. (Driderhood being considered a sign of blasphemous weakness and failure amongst the drow - and resulting in said drider being denied any social standing). Perhaps his condition also requires him to feed on humanoids, necessitating both a ready supply and the need to hide it from his organization lest it cause political problems.

Outpost: A group of drow who have formed a mercenary company, hoping to advance their station. Comprised of renegades, disgruntled commoner drow, and remnants from destroyed houses. Lured to the "surface" tunnels by Nezznar with promises of wealth and power. Fractious, untrustworthy, host to diverse extreme religious beliefs (per drow culture), and potentially open to betrayal. But might gain some standing in drow society if Nezznar succeeds. Generally more capable than Nezznar's human and goblinoid Redbrands.
