Standard Action Ranged 10
Target: One creature
Attack: Wisdom vs. Will
Hit: 3d10 + Wisdom modifier damage, and the target is stunned and can’t be affected by any attack other than this one until the end of your next turn.
Sustain Standard: Each time you sustain the power, you take 15 damage. The target remains stunned and protected against all other attacks. You can’t sustain this power if you are bloodied.

Update (2/8/2010)
On the Sustain Standard line, replace the first line with the following: “Each time you sustain the power, you take 15 damage.” This power was too effective against solos, effectively killing any creature when it is combined with healing powers like divine regeneration.Published in Player's Handbook 1, page(s) 71.

Okay, I'm looking at this power because its been stated in some other threads/forums that with this, and regeneration from Demi-God that you can auto-kill any monster.

I don't get it...other than the first initial damage upon a hit, how does it kill anything? I mean, it obviously keeps it stunned, but.... <shrugs>

Thanks.

I'm kinda curious, too. I mean, if it's immune to all other attacks, you'd have to try to drown it or something like that.

As I read it, you're right - it just stuns the creature, but you can't deal it any more damage. Now, if the creature is already suffering from ongoing damage, that could kill it off. Also, it lets the party deal with any other creatures around without having to worry about this one, letting them then concentrate on this one once the power is no longer being sustained.

It sounds like the references to the auto-kill were about the way the power read before it was changed, but I don't have PHB 1 in front of me to see what the old wording was.

Ah, the PHB version says you and they take 2d10+WISmod damage each round. So, as long as you can sustain it and keep from getting bloodied, you can just wait for it to die. Kinda ugly, but it was a 25th level power.

Ah, ok - that makes more sense. I must have been reading a pre-errata post.

So as is, as the other poster mentioned, you'd have to establish some pretty
good ongoing damage, then hit him with this and sustain standard. Still, if
the target had 15-30 ongoing damage somehow, and 1000 HPs...it would
take a while.

I like the other point that was brought up though - allowing the party to deal
with anyone but the target, effectively making it combat "ineffective" and then
returning to deal with it when the party was ready.

Interesting stuff.

Thanks for the replies all! :)

Actually one thing they did with this was to give the power Radiant somehow (Holy Avenger comes to mind). Clerics have the ability to make an enemy vulnerable to Radiant powers, while wearing armor and items that give themselves vulnerability.

Demigod then comes in and gives the Cleric Approx. 26-30 regeneration, and you have a power that's has no effect on the cleric, but does solid sustained damage and a stun against a single monster, with no escape.
