Gurdan heaves and huffs from the effort of his sprint, only to watch the warforged sprint by in the other direction.

"All this running is making me angry," he grouses.

The dwarf turns around and charges at the enemy, putting all of his momentum into a ferocious hammer swing. The entire cavern is set ringing as weapon collides with warforged. (Charge to R1 CRITS for 17 base damage and 8 extra damage from magic weapon crit bonus - total of 25 damage. Mark the 'forged.)

"Nicely done Gurdan! Hit'm again!"

"With pleasure," Gurdan bellows. He swings again, and is rewarded for his efforts by another satisfying clanging noise as he heaps further punishment upon the warforged. (Melee basic hits AC 26 for 18 damage (bonus included)).

"Give it up, ye hunk of scrap! Where's Gurdis?!?!?"

[sblock=ooc] And here I was sure you guys weren't going to go through a brute's HP's in one round... *sigh* I gotta run, but I'll post an update tomorrow on this terrific event! Well played guys! You'll definitely be getting a little something extra in the next part for blowing through this guy like that. very impressive! [/sblock]

The adventurers converge on their target. Blade is drawn, armor is pierced, and organic strands of fiber are destroyed. As the Warforged bomber slams against the wall of the cave, Gurdan's hammer ringing in a tone of victory, the once secure box of vials finds itself dislodged from the once iron-like grasp and begins falling to the floor. This is when Gurdan, skillfully lead by Lo-Kag, slams his hammer, once more, into the body of his foe. Before the box could even touch the ground, Gurdan lays out the warforged, sending it tumbling to the ground. Skidding along the earthen floor, the burning fuse of the bomb continues on its deadly path, soon to complete its task.

[sblock=Thievery 15] The bomb's fuse is very nearly to its volatile and explosive contents. Unless something is done in a hurry, the next ten or so seconds, that bomb is going to explode! [sblock=ooc] You guys have the rest of this round, and until the end of the next round to diffuse the bomb before it explodes. [/sblock][/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] Garrick: The badguy was defeated on Lo-Kag's turn (when Gurdan nailed the warforged again). Because of this, you can post a different set of actions if you would like. [/sblock]

Grryths eyes widen in horror as he realizes that the fuse is nearly burnt to the end. He rushes over and attempts to snuff it out.

[sblock=OOC]
SO do you need some sort of roll to extinguish the fuse? If so, what?
[/sblock]

Grryth looks at the bomb and determines that there just isn't enough time to disable the bomb before it explodes! The main fuse has burnt low enough that it sparked four other fuses in the bottom of the box, each going towards a different set of explosives! Looking at their current location, he also determines that there is no way to get everyone past the bomb and out the same way they came in. The only choice is to get as far away from the bomb as possible!

[sblock=Skill Challenge Time!]

This next part is going to be a skill challenge, complexity 5 (12 successes before 3 failures), but with a little twist. If you manage to get 3 failures, the skill challenge will not end. The skill challenge only ends when you get to 12 successes. You will be rewarded or punished based on how many failures you accrue by the time you get 12 successes.

This skill challenge will be split into 3 sections. I'll tell you which section we are on when we're on it. It is possible for any and all skills to come into play if you use them creatively. Some may have more obvious uses during the skill challenge. Use your imagination and have fun!

Skill Chalenge: Section 1: 0/12 Successes 0/3 failures.[/sblock]

[sblock=mini-reward] Because you guys blew through that brute so efficiently, I am giving everyone a +2 bonus on their first skill check in the skill challenge! [/sblock]

"Um, perhaps it's time to go." Alexia turns to leave, shifting her weight onto a patch of loose stone. The rocks slip and her legs fly out from under her, depositing her on her back. Cursing under her breath, she pushes herself back to her feet.

[sblock=ugh ugh ugh]So, that's a 9 Athletics. Well, 11 with the bonus. Man, I am not good at skill challenges. Planning them out, coming up with optimal solutions? I'm there. Just don't have me roll any of the checks.[/sblock]
