[Serenity RPG] Across the 'Verse: Introductions

Russo says, "Ow, why-" before Svetlana cuts her off: "Bed. Now." She looks directly at Aaron, backing up and pulling Russo along with her. Svetlana opens the door to 212, and they both go inside, with Svetlana shutting the door behind them. Aaron can hear hissed whispers whispers behind the door.

When the two women are out of sight, Xiao Feng pulls away from Tatjana and moves into the hall to open the door to Carly's room. She moves immediately to the left bottom bunk in the room, where a thin woman who is perhaps in her early twenties sleeps soundly. Tatjana can see the track marks up and down the woman's exposed arm. Xiao Feng tries to wake her up with loud, urgent whispers, "Jie! Jie! Get up - It's time to go! I have your things - Some people are here to help us! Get up!"

Carly stirs without opening her eyes, grimacing, says sleepily, "Juh Shi Suh Mo Go Dohng Shee, Feng Pi*? It's the gorram middle of the night - just got to sleep..."

Xiao Feng gets a little louder as she insists that the woman get up - too much more commotion and the others in the room will likely wake.

Carly, meanwhile, is rolling over: "Get the gun** out, Feng Pi! Ain't going nowhere."

Xiao Feng, start to cry, then, pleading loudly, "Jie - we have to escape!"

"Not your gorram jie, Feng Pi. Go to sleep. Don't need to go no where."

Tatjana

Tatjana has been moving in behind Xiao Feng and is now urging the two to stay silent.

“Shhh... Silence you two! Keep your voices down. We do not want to wake the whole place up!”

“Things are simple. We came to get this girl out of this place for good. Away, to another place. Likely another planet even. She wants you to come along, so here is your option, you come with us and start a new life elsewhere, or you stay, if you prefer it that way. I suppose you won't get a whole lot of chances like this. So, are we good to go now?”

 

[Maerdwyn]

Carly gets up on one elbow, and says, "Look, you wan' take the little turd to be someone else's pet, take her; I don't give a guhn. I'm goin' back t'bed." Xiao Feng starts pulling at her, crying and pleading for her to come with them. Carly raises a hand about to strike the girl.

 

[Thanee]

Tatjana

“Don't even think about that... She won't be anyone's pet, neither do you have to. If you like it here, we cannot and will not force you to come with us, but Xiao Feng puts great hope in you joining us. If you want to disappoint her. Fine. It's your life going down the drain, after all.”

Tatjana keeps herself ready to prevent Carly from striking the girl, just in case.

Aaron heads for the stairs with Steve, cutting back into the room they first came into and depositing him there after the ladies have entered their room.

He walks quietly over to Russo and Sveltlana's room (212) he keeps a hand on his pitol as he strains an ear to hear their discussion. He nods to Tatjana and Xiao Feng as they head into Carly's room.

As the sound from Carly's room escalates, he moves over sticks his head in and says, "We have to leave right now!"

He walks quietly over to Russo and Sveltlana's room (212) he keeps a hand on his pitol as he strains an ear to hear their discussion. He nods to Tatjana and Xiao Feng as they head into Carly's room.

Aaron hears Svetlana, whispering frightendly, "...Steve's gun! And he don't pass out - Steve jus' hurls, gits a headache and keeps goin. That guy's bad news, he got gun, and we're stayin put." From Carly's room, Aaron hears Xiao Feng's pleading. Russo apparently does too. "What's he doin' to Feng Pi? Ya think we should go help her?" Svetlana, "Don't know-- I'm gettin my gun, case he comes in here, though."

Xiao Feng keeps pleading with her, although more quietly, and tugs at her one more time. Carly shakes her off, and as it falls awat from Carly, Xiao Feng's arm accidently knocks into a small box sitting on Carly's bedside table. It tumbles to the floor, and a needle and several brown packets spill out. Carly moves out of bed ungently and start to recover her stuff from the floor, "Just get out!" she barks. Xiao Feng backs away, her eyes still on Carly, and puts an hand on Tatjana's arm.

Tatjana

Tatjana says calmly: “As I said, I won't force her to come. If she wants to throw her life away like this, it's her choice. Will you come with us then, Xiao Feng? We have to leave soon.”

 

[Maerdwyn]

Xiao Feng sniffs and says quietly. "Wo lai le. Xie xie. Zai jian...Jie.*"

*"I'm coming. Thank you. Good bye... Big Sister."

Tatjana

Tatjana puts an arm around the kid's shoulder, slowly urging her out.

“You will find new friends where we are going... a place where you will learn to smile. Let's go now.”

Then she heads back out.

 

[Maerdwyn]

They emerge back into the hallway just as Aaron hears, through the door, "I don't hear anything now - do you think he's gone? Should we go see if everyone is okay?"

Aaron, Tatjana, and Xiao Feng move quickly back through the room Aaron and Tatjana had first entered, pulling the door shut again as they step over Steve motionless and drooling form towards the window. The three make their way out of the building without further trouble - Xiao Feng climbs down skillfully - perhaps having made this particular climb before, by the look - but with pain from the beating she received not long ago.
