I can't wait to get all my new Shadowdark goodies. I finially finished that map though, so that's a thing. Now on to the dungeon.

Given the importance quicksand attained in all our young brains as one of life's marquee problems we would have to solve in our lives, I agree.

I got caught in quicksand once; when I was young and had been taken clamming. Almost cost me my boots!

And the using of the background for skills opens up that "player skill" stuff that the OSR talks about. Come up with a compelling case to the GM that because you are "banished" that you know how to do something?

"Well...I was banished to the elemental plane of Ice Cream after my parents were killed by ninjas. And as everyone knows, ice cream correlates with heat stroke. So can I roll to make the giant suffer from heat stroke?"

GM: "..."
