Sharn Tavern: The Tower's Shard

Shoot was just about to ask Seat if he wanted him to teach him magic, but was stopped by the twin distractions of a hobgoblin entering the tavern and Anvuss putting together more big words in one place that Shoot could remember hearing in a long time. He became aware that the hobgoblin was a female hobgoblin, which was doubly strange to him because he'd never met any sort of hobgoblin before. Not being able to slip a word in edgewise, Shoot decided to just pet Fang for a little bit, who was unsettled by the presence of far too many two-legged-people smells, and was starting to feel a little, well, "bitey". The wolf found the 'forged's touch soothing, and became a little less likely to growl a warning, even if only for a few minutes.

"Then they will pay us to find the tiny ball and smash it to pieces! Or find the machine again when the ball goes inside it. Either way they will surely pay us to crush their enemies.

"Really I don't think people are that vicious. And remember, the organisation that wants this book could be just as evil, or moreso, than the Warforged murderer."

...And as it appears that solitude shall elude me for the moment, I may as well introduce myself."[/color] She placed her scroll down and turned to face the pair she was speaking to. "I am Meksoor Dhakaan of the Kech Volaar, scion of the glory and power that was the Empire of Dhakaan ages before man, elf or dwarf set foot upon our lands."

Raven stands. "I am Raven Thorn, lately of the House Orien. I am acquainted with your people." She sits. "Some of them anyway." she adds softly

"Whatever we do, I think it's best to sleep on it for now," Stulgar says.

OOC: We should return to the adventure thread, this is chaotic and hard to follow.

(OOC: It's too bad that nobody in the whole tavern has Knowledge: Nobility to help out on the check. Ah well. Once Mordin comes in, we should just go back to the other thread, yeah)

[sblock=OOC] Or, the player of one who does is away for the weekend. Knowledge Nobility and Royalty check (1d20+2=16)[/sblock]

Aidan, seeing the people he was conversing with introduce themselves to the hobgoblin, takes the opportunity to step over to the table and examine the book. "I think I recognize the seal. It's the symbol of House Cannith, if I'm not mistaken."

(OOC:  that'd do it)

"That's a Dragonmark House, right? Wow, how embarrassing that no one else could tell that. You'd think it would be more recognisable. In any case, many thanks friend. I will commit it to memory for later. Cannith, what did they do again? They weren't the unscrupulous mercenary ones, I think...that one sounds similar but begins with a D or something. Maybe it has something to do with Warforged."

"Warforged? House Cannith? Indeed, the house of the makers is responsible for the creation of the Warforged. I'm sorry, I do not pay much attention to crests and such, or I might have been of more help."

"Cannith, are you sure?" asks Kharas. "Well, I am not good at heraldry, but I've seen the Cannith sign a few time, and I didn't remember it was that. Maybe the house have more than one symbol for their house. But yes, most likely it will be related to warforged, even more after we have been attacked by one of them."

"Yeah, I thought so. I always get it confused with the 'D' one. Anyway, though, those people used ancient schemas in an attempt to create an army of killing machines and got more than they bargained for, right? They don't seem like very trustworthy sorts, although certainly they're better than crazy murderous enraged Warforged, I guess."

(OOC: Knowing it was House Cannith was DC 15? Wow, I usually thinks WotC underrates the DCs on Knowledge checks (they make 'secret arcane mysteries' DC 20 when that means that almost half of first level Wizards know it), but that's ridiculous. It should definitely be DC 10 or below so that someone without ranks in the skill might know it)
