(OOC: Knowing it was House Cannith was DC 15? Wow, I usually thinks WotC underrates the DCs on Knowledge checks (they make 'secret arcane mysteries' DC 20 when that means that almost half of first level Wizards know it), but that's ridiculous. It should definitely be DC 10 or below so that someone without ranks in the skill might know it)

ooc: Yeah, you would think the DC would be similar to knowing "Micky Mouse is a trademark of the Walt Disney company." Not everyone knows that, but a lot of people do without any actual study. I've never been pleased with the way the knowledge skill works.

Edit: Just to be ridiculous: If you see the same seal again tomorrow, by the RAW you still would have no chance of recognizing it!

ooc: Actually, the DC is higher because it´s an ancient, simpler form of the house sigil; that could mean the symbol on the book could have been out of use for hundreds of thousands of years.

(OOC: Aidan could have mentioned that instead of making all the other characters in the inn look like morons :p

But if it's really old and historical, wouldn't it be knowledge history?)

"Cannith, are you sure?" asks Kharas.

"Well, it was a bit difficult to tell, as the design is done rather poorly. But if you really look at it, you can see the stylized hammer and anvil inside a circle. At any rate, I'm glad I could be of help. If you could explain to me just what has happened and what you are doing, I might be able to offer further assistance, if it is required."

"A crazy Warforged killed a guy with this book. It's blank inside, so the real contents are probably protected by magic or something. We don't really have anything else to go on, so we're going to go to sleep after our friend gets here."

OOC: It's still heraldry (if House symbols count as such), which makes it Nobility and Royalty. And Aidan didn't make you look like morons, see the post above. Jeez, take a break to grab some food and return to find an overreaction. ;)

"Well, if the assistance of a Templar would be of use to you, you can find me here." Aidan gives a polite nod of his head.

"If it´s a magic book and belong to a house Cannith scion, hou have a clue. There can´t be so many rich house Cannith members in the city." comments Ib´iza

"Yeah, he's kinda dead," Siobhan grimaces sheepishly, "I don't know if he was a scion or not--couldn't check the body for a mark, but the Warforged killed him before we got there."
