Shield spell is finally fixed

Yeah, "fixed" is kind of a loaded word, but I'm glad it's finally been added since the ruling in question was quite some time ago.

Why do a FAQ? It isn't errata'd?! I don't follow suggestions, I like when they fess up and say, "We were wrong. Shield should not negate AOO." Nope, they put it in Sage Advice and then throw Sage Advice into a FAQ. Advice? I can ask Krenolds and CRGreathouse for Advice. Where are the rules?

[if they did mark this as official errata, then I will go shoot myself and apologize in advance ;)]

After flip-flopping on the issue, I'm pretty sure it showed up in Dragon under Sage Advice and/or one of the Sage's little illustration articles.

The good doctor is right, though. This is very old news.

Strangly, none the people in my group have ever used Shield. I guess no one pays attention to the possibilities.

I'll have to use it agenst them.

k? You seein this? :)

I'm sorry, it struck me as funny. For a time Caliban was getting posts regularly specifically begging for him in the topic to come make a ruling. kreynolds shows up and disagrees with Caliban and is roasted and in turn flames-on. Now it is k that people are looking to for rules advice.

Ironic little twist. :) I still say Caliban is my sage though. :) Just cause I watched him in a live chat whip out rulings with page numbers from Core Books and Dragon Magazines faster than I could type my request for the question to be restated. ;)

Hmm .. the FAQ is the WotCs official source of rules clarifications.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Unfortunately, this "fix" does not follow the rules for errata

The rules are, quite simply, the Sage may not publish errata, only clarifications. The FAQ is not errata - it is Sage advice.

The "Shield" spell is still not officially changed from the book. Cripes - why can't they get this right?!?
