Shinobi - My Take on a Naruto Based Class

Wow...overpowered.

Maybe per encounter but this along with the incredible AC / Ref defenses these guys end up have basically has them moving constantly.

Hmm, yes but this uses little chakra and makes more sense to be an at-will power. Suggestion on how to make it more of an at-will power would help.

And why would they have an awesome AC, no armor with only there intelligence bonus helping. Of course there would be better versions then this... Maybe I could give a it a limit based on an opponents level.

Story mechanics =/ game mechanics. Many a game designer has been stymied trying to figure out something that is "easy" for a character in a book or show but has far reaching implications within a game.

Make it a simple shift (1 square) and make it a maximum of once per round.

Ok, first of all, I think we haven't seen anyone employing such power more than once per encounter except Sakura during Chuunin exam. So limiting its use by including limited supply of material components seems feasible.

Secondly, it is employed during opponent's turn in response to opponent action and to interrupt opponent's action: it should be Immediate Interrupt.
To reiterate: Immediate Interrupts can be used outside of one's turn and their effect resolves before the effect of the interrupted action takes place.

Thirdly, Kawarimi is usually conducted in conjunction with another action - usually that of hiding in nearby forest or running away. However, despite being a short range effect, most users can easily evade their enemies. Also, users of Kawarimi do not seem to employ another technique - they are only moving/hiding/employing some hiding technique.

Finally, there seems to be a need for some implement to be used, which is to take place of one.

Scribe Utility Scroll
Shinobi Utility 1

Encounter * Arcane, Conjuration, Implement
5 minutes, scroll of paper, writing tools, object to be stored
Utility: Scribing vs 20

Effect: You may store certain objects or powers in little scrolls of paper. Basic uses of this power:
- storing gunpowder to produce exploding notes,
- storing Village specific object for the purpose of creating Kawarimi focus (large wooden trunk for Konoha).

Object from scroll is released when the scroll is destroyed by tearing (that's why setting Exploding Note on fire is not a good idea) (free action), read with intention to activate (standard action) or treated to Chakra release (releasing Chakra on scroll of paper causes it to burn and release item with one round delay).

Object volume is restricted to 0.5 kg * Charisma bonus.
Kawarimi focus is an exception to this rule since it all Shinobis are trained to be much more effective with regard to storing the Kawarimi focus.
Miss: Paper scroll is used up. Objects are not stored but may be reused.


Body Substitution (Kawarimi)
Shinobi Attack 1

With a puff of smoke or flash of light your character dashes away from opponents attack leaving replacement in his wake.

At-will * Arcane, Teleportation, Implement (Kawarimi focus)
Immediate Interrupt * Kawarimi focus
Target: Self
Requirement: Must be holding scroll with stored implement or must succeed at Bluff or Stealth vs Perception (passive) to draw enemy attention away from implement
Attack: Stealth vs Perception (passive)
Effect: Shift 1 square. As a free action you may also move up to your speed, hide or use Elemental Technique to hide (Earth to hide underground, Water to hide beneath water surface, Air to hide within fog, etc).
Kawarimi focus may be used if stored in utility scroll or if already held, but it is considered lost during the use of technique.
Kawarimi focus is not usable if it is visible to your opponent (though hiding it under cloak is sufficient).
Hit: You are Invisible until the end of your next turn. You may shift up to your Dexterity bonus squares instead of just one square.

Spirited Attack [General]
Prerequisite: A named attack.
Benefit: Choose one of your named attacks. If you shout the name of this attack in a loud, clear voice (a Minor action) immediately before initiating it, your gain a +2 Power bonus to your attack roll.

(Note: this feat is appropriate for any anime.)

Attack: Stealth Vs Passive Perception
Hit: You are invisible until the end of your next turn. You may shift up to your Dexterity bonus squares.
Special: A Shinobi using this power must have somewhere to shift to so that they can hide such as in a tree, long grass, water ect... ect
Duplication Jutsu
Shinobi Class Feature 1
The man smiles at you placing his hands into a complex gesture there is a small burst of smoke as two clones appear by his side. Attacking you soon relies he is no longer standing where he seemed to have been as your arrow flies straight through him turning the image to smoke.
Encounter – Chakra (Ninjutsu), Illusion
Standard Action
Target: Self
Effect: Creates 1d4 clones (see below)
Special: The duplicates are replicas of the user only they do not have a physical body and so cannot speak or perform any action that requires having a body, like lifting an object or attacking a creature. Once touched by another create or a object, such as a weapon a clone disappears in a puff of smoke. If the user stands among his clones he gains concealment and an attack that misses him destroys one of his clones instead.

A opponent targeting the user of this power may make a perception check DC 15 to spot which ones are the clones there for getting rid of the users concealment and granting the attacker a +2 to there attack roll.
Transformation Jutsu
Shinobi Class Feature 1
You blink, as you stand before a complete replicate of yourself.
Encounter – Chakra (Ninjutsu), Illusion
Standard Action
Target: Self
Effect: You may change your form to match that of a creature familiar to you, this does not effect your hp, ability scores, healing surges or powers and you may perform normally if the form you have taken has the required limbs to use your powers and weapons, armor and clothing adapts to your new form. This transformation lasts 1+Int Modifier Rounds.

A Shinobi always gets these unless a certain feat I'm trying to perfect is taken. Also i will post the Jinchuriki up.
 

Powers

Shinobi draw there powers from several different power sources which are named under one word “chakra”. A shinobis powers are called Justu and will be known as Chakra Powers from here on out even though a Shinobi actually draws from Martial, Arcane and Shadow Power Sources.


At-Will

Gouken (Iron Fist)

Shinobi Attack 1

Encounter – Chakra (Taijutsu), Melee Weapon
Standard Action
Target: One Creature
Attack: Melee vs AC
Hit: 1W+Str Damage
Special: This attack and any other attacks made on the same round as this power by the user receive a +2 Power Bonus to Damage.
Kiun Butsu (Opportunity Strike)
Shinobi Attack 1

At Will – Chakra (Taijutsu), Melee Weapon
Immediate Interrupt
Target: One Creature
Attack: Melee vs AC
Hit: 1W+Str Damage and target may not move any further.
Special: You may use this power when ever some one shifts or moves through a square you threaten.
Master of Combat: You receive a +2 Power Bonus to damage when using this power.
Keikai Butsu (Nimble Strike)
Shinobi Attack 1

At Will – Chakra (Taijutsu), Melee Weapon
Standard Action
Target: One Creature
Attack: Melee vs AC
Hit: 1W +Dex Damage.
Sneak Attack: You receive a +2 Power Bonus to your attack roll with this power.

Special: The target of this power must be bloodied.
Master of Combat: The user of this power may spend a full round action increasing the damage of this by 1W .

Daily
Zentai Bougyo (Total Defense)
Shinobi Stance 1

Daily – Chakra (Taijutsu)
Minor Action
Target: Self
Effect: Your receive a +5 Power Bonus to all Defenses while in this stance and may not move, including shifting on your own accord.
Duration:[/b] 3+Con Modifier Rounds
Special: A Shinobi may enter and exit this stance as a minor action. Of course once a shinobi has left this stance he may not enter it again. If a shinobi chooses to move he automatically end this stance.
Master of Combat: While in this stance you may make one additional opportunity attack per an opponent each turn.

These are the Taijutsu powers for first level.
