Shoes?

First Post
So, I have a new job. I am on my feet for about 9 hrs a night. I am really not used to that.

What are the most comfortable shoes you have ever worn..?

Any info you have on keeping one's feet from being sore, and hot.

Sorry if this is wierd. But you all rock.

It depends on what you are doing. If you are standing in one place all night, then get yourself a pair of Dasko Professionals.
At my second place of employment (Plow & Hearth) we sell Dansko clogs, and our top consumers of them are: 1.Nurses 2.Doctors 3.Chefs 4.Teachers
I have 2 pair of them, and they are UNBELEIVABLELY comfortable, and I'm one of those people who usually takes days to find a pair of shoes that I can wear comfortably.

Well, i do a number of things. Mostly I unload clothing from the boxes it was shipped, off of pallets, and hang them on the sales racks, or tables. Sometimes i dont move much, somtimes I am walking all over the place. I have heard that nursing shoes are very comfortable. I really need something comfortable. I dont care how they look.

Give Danskos a try. They have lots of different styles, all built with the same (or a similar) sole construction, designed to put the weight of your feet where the foot supports it the best, and allow your feet to be in a relaxed position most of the time. Find a place near you that sells them (usually higher end shoe stores, not mall stores) and try them on. Wear them around the store for 10 minutes, and see what you think. They take a bit of getting used to, but one you do, you'll love them (well, will probably love them...)

Shoes are more important than most people think. Especially if you are on your feet all day long. I have a very hard time finding good shoes, because I used to wear just about anything, and ended up hurting my feet in the process.

If you're doing more heavy work you might also take a look at Wolverine Dura-Shocks. They come in steel toes or not, some are very light. They tend to be expensive, but you can often find them on sale for around $125 or so. They are extremely comfortable, are light as tennis shoes (except for steel toed types) and last through years of hard work. I won't wear any other work boots.

Thanks everyone for suggestions. There are two different retailers that sell Wolverine Dura-Shocks and Danskos. So, I will look in to both of them.

I find that if I have a hard night on my feet, it causes my entire body to ache more... starting with my head all the way down to my heels. The largest problem I have is that after gain a considerable amount of weight over the last 3 yrs my body, and hips are not used to carrying myself all day. There is a down side, and an upside.. I am loosing weight, but it hurts to work.

One note, not on brands, but shoes in general. Pay attension to the widths.

A few years back, my feet were really killing me, so I went to a higher-end shoe store. Turns out my feet are EE width. For the first 28 years of my life, I'd been wearing normal (C?) width shoes. My feet feel so much better, now. Sure, I can't find $20 shoes anymore, but my $50 shoes are more comfortable and have lasted three times as long -- and are still going strong.

If you're going somewhere that sells Wolverines, though, I'm sure they'll measure your feet, etc.

Yeah, the major shoe store here has been around for a long, long time. They are really great at quality and customer service, but they tend to get you to want the high end instead of what could serve you the best.

Actually the width thing has always been an issue with me too. I cant find any insoles that are wide enough for my feet.
