D&D (2024) Should 2014 Half Elves and Half Orcs be added to the 2025 SRD?

Just a thought, but given they are still legal & from a PHB, but not in the 2024 PHB, should they s

Defaulting back to 3e or 2e is like 70% of 5e's selling points 'round these parts.
Exceot when it's clear painted in an -ism.

Hence why it's weird people want to default to multi decade old problematic lore and mechanics when good lore and mechanics are RIGHT THERE.

This is why I keep saying 5e is the "How do you do, Fellow Kids" edition. Because it feels like old people and people who want to be old people trying to appeal to what they think younger people want and finding success only due to lack of true competition.

Just use the lore you want. Heck, use the mechanics you want! I design my own for either or both when needed.

Well good for you. I'm saying if that isn't the case (and there appear to be several here, including myself, who fall into that category), you are better off looking elsewhere.
Ah. The “we” was you and Mamba.

Sorry. Misread that.

I read the “we” as a more global “we.”

The point is that some are trying to weave their old problematic lore into the mechanics and setting of the game and inadvertently affecting the SRD.

AND they will likely be successful.

the niche they fill and people want them for is not a mechanical one but a narrative one, you have already been told this by other people and myself, however, the fact they fill a narrative role does not disregard giving them their own distinct mechanics.

There is a narrative role, I agree. I think it can be filled better filled than with the 2014 half-elf or half-orc. A system that allows multiple mixed species to exist (beyond elf/human and orc/human) even if we have to wait for a later splat book, is a far better option than bringing back the half elf and half orc.

I very much doubt the SRD will contain Half-X entries, there is no reason to add them and good reasons not to when you consider the purpose of the SRD
