Ah, then you are in luck. You get lots of Clark and Lex. The little green rocks average about 5 seconds of air time.

Actually, lemme rephrase that. I came to see Clark--though I now come to see Lex. And I tire of kryptonite being the element that sparks most plots. I would prefer the characters spark most plots.

I liked this episode, but then I missed the green rock explaination. I saw the green bolts of lightening, but then I missed the next few minutes where they explain everything.

Was there an explanation? Or was there just Clark looking at the lightning and obviously thinking, "Aw, c'mon, you're freakin' kidding me, right?"

I watch ST: Enterprise, Smallville, and American Idol.

When it was only two shows conflicting it wasn't a big issue, since we have a direct TV tivo and can record both at once.

However, now that American Idol is on at the same time, we have a conflict again.

It was a no brainer for us. With the return to the meteor-rock-causes-all-conflict scripts this season, it was an easy choice to ditch it.

Enterprise is moving times, so perhaps I will return to Smallville, but honestly I don't think I can handle any more poorly written episodes from these writers. If the longest running comic book of all time doesn't contain any plot threads other than a magic rock for these writers to delve into, then they can also do without my eyes watching their dreck.

And, I say "these writers" because it seems WB cannot decide on a consistent writer or team, and rotates constantly (nor a consistent director either). Here is a list of the 12 writers used for the first 19 episodes this season:

Brian Peterson
Todd Slavkin
Darren Swimmer
Drew Greenberg
Mark Verheiden
Holly Harold
Ken Biller
Ken Horton

And there are nearly as many directors as well. It's a mess!

Maybe I missed something but the rocks really had nothing to do with the story other than sending the message back in time and cause static on the phone. When he went outside he still lifted the pole albeit he struggled a little but that was it.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

In other words, other than providing the entire means of creating the conflict in the plot, like just about every other rock-based episode. But-for the rock, you have no episode.

Just like but-for the rock you have no super fast race cars, no teleporting crazy girl, no asylum FULL of rock-based super villians, etc...

Ya know, I really don't have a problem with rock-based-freaks. Wouldn't want them every episode, but having them with some regularity doesn't bug me -- it's just the show's schtick. And it makes some sense that after 15+ years of exposure to the radiation a few of the locals might have mutated.

Now, rock-powered cars and rock-powered explosives... well, those get old halfway through the episode anymore.

Of course, I'm getting a bit tired of Lana always being in trouble. Yeah, she's the love interest (although I think they've pretty well played out that arc, now), but how much bad luck can a girl have?
