Thursday night baby! Any one else psyched? I'm hooked on this show like the way I was hooked on the X-files in the first few years.

I was really into it until they brought Lois into the show and the tone went from the very Luthor intensive Season 3 to the style of writing used in season 4. I quit making an effort to watch it. I did watch the season finale last week though, so I'm going to try and catch the season opener and hope it appeals to me more. Not sure what the deal was with Jason though.

Although I do like the show, the writing has gone south big time during the past two seasons. With stories based more on plot than on character, it has taken a complete nose dive IMHO. And I'm sorry but that whole plot line of the french witch possessing Lana reminded me of some of the D&D adventures I used to write when I was 13. They have to get back into the superman mythos (which they seemed to do in the finale of last season) and stop using contrived plot devices to advance the "story". I will be watching the season premiere, but with some reservation.

I am totally psyched! I've been having Superman dreams again, and that is sometimes good, sometimes bad. The bad is that I'm going through withdrawal and need a fix. Just found out that it is on at 7pm here.

Synopsis: Clark learns he must stay at the Fortress of Solitude in order to save the planet.

I'll give it a try but I missed season 4 because of Lost. Most of my friend gave up on it about half-way through Season 2 and only stayed for Lex and Lionel. I know the entire romance focus on Clark and Lana has enabled them to keep the teenage girl audience and thus kept the show on the air as long it has, but it just sucked a lot of the fun out of the show for me. Even your most casual Superman fan knows that anything to do with Lana is doomed from the start. She is not The One. I did like Lois' apperances, both because she as done as a likeable character and because, well, she is The One. I'm thinking this season almost has to be the end, or perhaps next one.

I missed pretty much all of Season 4 due to Lost Syndrome :D. I saw the premiere, the finale and maybe two or three episodes in between when Lost was a rerun that night (I know I saw the prom episode, and the eps where Crazy/Hot Teleporter Babe showed up and Chloe found out Clark's secret). I picked up the Comcast DVR a few weeks ago in preparation for the fall TV season, as I knew Smallville would conflict with my schedule. I'm looking forward to getting back into it, but would some kind soul like to give me the bulletpoints of what I missed this year? Judging from the finale, it looked like Lana went through a lot changes.

(Yeah, I know I could go over to Television Without Pity to catch up, but their recaps are looooong. Funny, but looooooong.)
