So, I bet that the d12 is getting kicked to the curb...

I like more dice, but honestly I wouldn't miss the d12 at all. I already only use it for my Barbarian's hit dice. That could be done otherwise (but I use a greatsword, not a great axe.)

I also don't really use percentile dice in d20. Stabilization is a 10% chance, right? I just roll a d10. Percentile only matters if results more granular than in steps of five or ten matter, otherwise why not just use your d20 or your d10?

I'm also not a fan of d4s, although I seem to use much more of them than I'd like.

For all you d12 lovers, pick up the board game Shogun "aka" Samuri Swords (OoP unfortunetly :\ ). All d12s all the time baby.

keep the d12!

use it for barbarian hit points!

and greatsword damage instead of 2d6!

and greataxe damage!

long live the d12! the die for big barbarians with big weapons!!!

messy

I just decided that every weapon that deals 1d10 damage will now deal 1d12.

I wouldn't mind if they kicked the d4 to curb as well. It's annoying to read, and doesn't really "roll" well. It just kind of plunks down when you throw it.

No way, bro! There is something about that little pyramid-shaped die that says "RPGs" to me. Call me nostalgic, but the d4 stays.

The d12 too. ;)

Without the d12 how can you randomly determine the length of a certain important male attribute?

I'm talking about beard length, you sickos!

And the people of planet Tigella would be lost without their Dodecahedron.

The biggest problem with D12s IMO (and this is a dice design problem, not a game-design problem) is that too often, people pick them up instead of D10s (when a person really wanted a D10).

Getting rid of them would help alleviate this surely, but I have to wonder if its not more prudent to kill the D10 instead. I mean, almost anything you could D10 you could D20 instead, except damage, but as for damage, well - just roll a D20 and if over ten, subtract ten. And percentiles - anything more granular than 5% differences is probably excessive bloat (or in the case of random encounters, just have a multiple - D20 chart).

The d4? Aka the caltrop of pain? Try standing on one in socks or bare feet.

You d4 haters ought to visit your favorite local gaming store. The d4's I'm using are shaped a lot like stretched out d6's with two semi-rounded ends, so they can only land on 4 sides. Easy to read, no caltrop effect, and all and all very nice dice.

I accidently used a d12 to roll to hit. For three rounds. And no, I was not playing one of those characters who hits on a 4+.

I love my d12s! (And the d4/d12. Great idea.) However, for those of you losing their d12s, I would be happy to give them all a home. Please email me and I will give you a mailing address. :D
