So, what Class are you dying to play?

What I want to play often changes by the game, setting, and my mood at the time. But right now, I do feel like playing a Human Fighter/Wizard or Ranger/Wizard. Sure, it’s multi-classing, but it’s what I feel like playing of late.

That's really odd because on of my players has his heart set on a Dragonborn Infernal Warlock.

As for myself, DM, unfortunately. When I do get the chance to play I'll probably play either human rogue with fighter training or human fighter with rogue training. The idea being to build a sort of shock trooper: crush some skulls moveing in and then crush the skull of anyone trying to get away.

My choice for first PC, assuming I am not the DM :)...

Thief!

Yes, I know thats not a class.. but its okay because I will be another one of those folks testing the bounds of the new multiclass rules. One thing for sure, my first character will be a remake of one of my current PCs, so either Cutter as an Eladrian Fighter/Ranger/Bard/Rogue/Deep Wood Sniper or Justin Cooper as a Summoner of Shadow Constructs and freind of the ShadowFell...
Or maybe go even farther back into my pile of PCs and break out Shawn Odessa..mostly Ranger/Rogue with a penchant for diving headfirst into the fray.

But.. in truth I will probably be the one running the game, so I will have to either get to Gen Con or wait a while before getting to play a 4e PC :(

I'm really considering a Warlord, because I really want to yell at all the "maggots" to get up and shake it off. "One knife to the gut and you taste dirt? Look, the mud's just about stopped the bleeding, you little whining peasant! Get up and swing that sword like you mean it!"
I don't know if you were serious but this is exactly what i've been dreading since I read their justification for non-magical healing and buffs, which was, basically "yells at people". I guess the names Leader and Warlord do make sense after all...

it would really annoy me if another player actually found it cool to bellow orders and boss around, à la drill sgt or leonidas-style.

and why would, say a seasoned warrior or any strong-minded character need someone to shout him back to health if he had it in him in the first place? (come on, just shut up and heal!)

I could put up with holier-than-thou clerics or paladins because they had the magic to back up their attitude. I would even take a chorus of froofy bards singing during combat over what i have heard of the warlord.

more on topic, i'd love to play a balanced sorcerer or bard. wait... this is a new edition? a viable fighter-mage package then?
oh well... :\

I'm most interested in warlocks and clerics. I'm very interested in how classes that make agreements with otherworldly entities work and what benefits exist for other classes.

I also really hope that this is not how the leader classes will be working, otherwise my characters will not give a crap about some would-be-leaders orders and do their own thing ignoring the bonuses lost for ignoring the leader.

I don't think that will be a problem for my homegame, but certainly has some conflict potential for RPGA games with
