Monk. Oh wait...

And that's what we'll be doing. I'm hoping the extra time will result in a better-built class.

I have an idea for a dragonborn warlord floating through my head, based on an old epic character. I might also go with a rogue of some type, too.

I'm really interested in how they changed the paladin. I love the idea of th paladin; hate how much he sucks in 3.5.

I hope they make him cool to play again. ::fingers crossed::

Actually 3E has the best iteration of the paladin in all of dnd. One of the main reasons is the addition of smite; he could not do this in earlier editions so just ended up being a weaker fighter with some weak spells and the ability to heal disease! Ugh!

Furthermore, some feats have made paladin quite powerful actually. Extra Smite, Divine Might and Sacred vengeance can all turn your paladin into a powerhouse, especially when combined with powerattack. A 9th level paladin can have all of these, plus cleave or mounted combat or what not. Also, the phb II variant paladin ability, divine charge is also helpful.

Are you kidding me? 3.x is where Paladins got neutered. Sure, on paper, it looks like they got a lot of stuff added from AD&D, but Smites were only situational and extremely limited, as was their spellcasting.

What you forget is that in 1e and 2e, all Fighters got was Weapon Specialization, which wasn't a make-or-break. Even without it, warrior group classes (or Fighter/Cavalier sub-classes if you prefer) were the indisputed kings of melee combat. No Cleric could come close.

In AD&D, Paladins were more like 95% Fighter with a dose of Cleric. That made them powerful. In 3e, they were literally half-Fighter, half-Cleric and all gimped.

I wonder if characters still benefit from a warlord's buffs if they turn around and start swinging at his head?

A warlord who acts like that is just beggin' to be fragged!

QTF. No Warlord (or any other character class) who acted like this would be welcome at any table in my group. Being abused by the NPCs is bad enough. Abusing fellow PCs is a good way to lose a friendship.

Hmm... First off probably play my classic Tiefling Rogue, then...

I am thinking either Tiefling Ranger (already got a backstory for her).

Then... Maybe a Dragonborn Fighter if we do our Ancient-Egyptian style game.

Then... Hmm, probably try out a Eladrin Warlock.
