So, what Class are you dying to play?

I'm probably going to DM first, but when it's my chance to play, I'm hoping to bring back Nalieth, human wizard with rogue training (was an arcane trickster). Should be an interesting combo.

I'm also looking at a fighter with wizard training, or a plain ol' rogue or paladin. I wouldn't touch paladins in earlier editions, but now that the Code is probably gone, I'm more interested.

I'm probably DMing it, but if I were to play I'd say my first instinct is to some kind of sword master, without seeing the rules I'm not sure which class that is, maybe its the fighter but maybe its one of the strikers. But since in the SR4 Game I'm playing I am playing a physical adept focused on unarmed combat, there is a good chance I'll want to play something not focussed on up close fighting, so maybe a ranger archer, warlock, or wizard. But chopping people in half has a strong appeal to me.

I'm changing my vote.

4e makes me want to play DM more than any other role.

I am definitely in that boat as well, as my group's primary DM. I just had an old friend from high school join my group again, and he's another DM, so I should get a chance to play a fighter some time in the near future.

I don't know if you were serious but this is exactly what i've been dreading since I read their justification for non-magical healing and buffs, which was, basically "yells at people". I guess the names Leader and Warlord do make sense after all...

it would really annoy me if another player actually found it cool to bellow orders and boss around, à la drill sgt or leonidas-style.

and why would, say a seasoned warrior or any strong-minded character need someone to shout him back to health if he had it in him in the first place? (come on, just shut up and heal!)

I could put up with holier-than-thou clerics or paladins because they had the magic to back up their attitude. I would even take a chorus of froofy bards singing during combat over what i have heard of the warlord.

Heh. When I first saw the Warlord, I thought of Kamina.

"Don't believe in yourself! Believe in me, who believes in you!"
"Go beyond the impossible and kick reason to the curb!"
"Your drill is the drill that will peirce the heavens!"

I'm planning on playing a Kamina-style Warlord or Nanoha-style Warlock. Depends on whether or not Warlords are dependant on wearing armor (because all Kamina needs to wear is a badass cape, some sunglasses, and some pants for modesty), and how blasty Warlocks can get (could one pull of a Starlight Breaker-like attack eventually?).

Warlock. I want to see how the binder elements work with the new warlocks, since I was never very happy with the 3.5e warlock, the binder – though cool as hell – felt like half mage half fifth wheel in play, and I'd been playing around with combining the two into my idea of an archetypical mage already.

Then, my favored class, the fighter/rogue, and after that fighter/mage combos.

All of them.

While I'm interested in reading and playing all of them, the two classes that interest me the most are two of the iconic D&D classes: The Fighter and Wizard.

The fighter being revamped to be a very nice competent choice with real specializations in weapons (different abilities for different weapons, as opposed to just a mundane bonuses to hit and damage) has be quite interested in playing what was so boring to play before.

In addition, on the other end of the spectrum, Wizards were always such a powerhouse that I always seemed to have the right spells prepared at the right time (in addition to the Druid) I'm interested to see how the non-vancian toned down Wizard will be. In fact I think it might be more fun to play a wizard based on the fact that it's supposedly not completely all powerful now.

Same old name, but the new approach to them seem quite interesting. I know they are doing similar "new approaches" to rogues, clerics and rangers, but for some reason they never drew me in that much.
