@daw4989 for Warlocks, can you take the same Eldritch Invocation twice? Most wouldn't stack, but for Dreadful Word, Mire the Mind?
@JeremyECrawford You aren't meant to be able to take a particular eldritch invocation more than once.

@HVargavinter Here's a dispute you might settle. I say resistance before temp HP then HP. Not temp HP then resistance and THEN real HP?
@JeremyECrawford It goes (1) resistance, (2) temporary hit points, and then (3) hit points.

@ArthurGetz2 Is a character limited to just three magic items
@JeremyECrawford There's no limit on the number of magic items you can possess, but you can attune to only 3.
@spencerleblanc NB that not all magic items require attunement (but all the best ones do)
@JeremyECrawford That's correct: a magic item requires attunement only if its description says it does.

@Clint_Cranford Can a barbarian hit himself to keep his rage going?
@JeremyECrawford No.
@Aviles316 Then a barbarian COULD indeed hurt themselves to keep rage going. So "yes" to the original question?
@JeremyECrawford Barbarians can't keep Rage going by simply attacking themselves (must be a hostile creature), but they can deal damage to themselves.

@SkiylerAiken Will you guys be bringing back the hybridizing of classes??? Best thing imo from 4th edition. Half-Drow Druid Assassin. :)
@JeremyECrawford In fifth edition, we use the multiclassing rules to achieve similar results.

@dimas_pr Does a failed spellcasting because of Counterspell still count as a trigger for Mage Slayer's attack?
@JeremyECrawford Counterspell causes a spell to fail. It doesn't undo the fact that spellcasting occurred.

@cahe Cleric turns undead and then dies a round later. Are the creatures turned for the whole duration? Thanks for clarifying! :)
@JeremyECrawford The effect of Turn Undead doesn't end upon the cleric's death. The feature's text would say if it did.

@Als260502 The advantage of assassin, against creature that hasn't taken a turn, works for the entire combat? or just surprise round?
@JeremyECrawford Assassinate works only against a creature that hasn't taken a turn yet.

@IXTenebrae Does the monk get the ability bonus to the bonus atk from Martial Arts, or is it like two-weapon fighting?
@JeremyECrawford Martial Arts: take a look at the first bullet of the feature. You can add your Str. or Dex. mod. to the attack and damage rolls.

@mrwakka Does Spiritual Weapon gain the benefits of the barbarians Totem Spirit of the wolf?
@JeremyECrawford The caster makes the attack roll in spiritual weapon and can benefit from the barbarian's 3rd-level wolf feature in Totem Spirit.

@SonicallyScrewd Bladesinger from SCAG: Mage Armor spell and Armor Bonus from Bladesinging, Do they stack?
@JeremyECrawford A bonus stacks with anything, except another bonus from the same source.

@Glytched Does Necrotic Damage always reduce max HP?
@JeremyECrawford The game's damage types are described on page 196 of the Player's Handbook. None of them have inherent special effects

@bjNemeth If you use Crossbow Expert feat to Bonus Action attack w/ hand crossbow, do you add your DEX modifier to damage?
@JeremyECrawford You always add the appropriate ability modifier to the damage of your weapon attacks, unless a feature tells you not to.

@PKorntved in 17hours from now, and I need to know before getting Lucky feat.Do you use it before or after an attacker has rolled
@JeremyECrawford Lucky lets you choose between using your roll or your attacker's. The attacker must make a roll for you to make this choice.

@Phoenix_Rion How/when would Elemenal Affinity bonus apply in these 3 cases: 1. Melfs Min Meteors 2.Scorching Ray 3.Twinned FireBolt? thx
@JeremyECrawford Elemental Affinity benefits one damage roll of a spell. (1. One meteor. 2. One ray. 3. One fire bolt.) #DnD
Classic case of JC being wrong by not doing research and answering from memory. Twined Fire Bolt only has one damage roll to benefit from EA.

Fire bolt involves an attack roll.

Twinning a spell that involves an attack roll results in two attack rolls, not one roll applied to both targets, and would then have two separate damage rolls - one for each attack, assuming it hit.

So no, JC isn't wrong.

I guess all the people being mentioned in these transcripts aren't bothered by them? It would probably drive me batty if I were @ Jeremy for example! :)

See whirlwind attack. Two attack rolls can be part of the same attack and have the same damage roll. Oh look, that's a twinned Fire Bolt.

I don't think whirlwind attack does what you think it does. Is there a tweet or errata somewhere that states "with a separate attack roll for each target." doesn't also mean a separate damage roll for each?

If yes, I might see how whirlwind isn't a single attack with multiple attack & damage rolls, and then might be able to see how it has any bearing on what the twin spell metamagic does to the fire bolt cantrip.
