Sorcerers and Sudden Metamagic Feats

I still think that what was said earlier (reference post #11) implies at the very least a loophole that can be exploited by the spontaneous spellcasters.

Err?

Work with me: pretend you don't have MH. (Pretend you are not about to part with some hardearned cash for a piece of t......err, never mind. :) )

That's what the internet is for. :p

No, really, it should be completely clear, that it can only be an oversight.

Do spontaneous casters normally prepare their spells? :)

I disagree. To me, it says, "You cast a spell and suddenly it's maximised / empowered / widened / whatever."

Just thought I'd chime in and say I just went and downloaded the Complete Arcane errata from the WotC site. It's all of one page and there's nothing about sudden metamagic. So either it's not an oversight, but a purposeful change, or they haven't officially caught it yet.

Errata is dated 3/16/05.

Since option A) is completely out of question (I mean, there isn't even a paragraph about Sudden Metamagic, right? ;)), it's obviously option B).

I don't pretend to know what the Wizards are thinking. Just letting everyone know there's no official info at this time.

We could e-mail customer service, but I'm terrified of getting an ambiguous answer. :D

Yes, depending on how you phrase it, you'll get different answers.

If you say:
"In the Miniatures Handbook, it is said that Sudden metamagic feats do not increase casting time for a spontaneous spellcaster, like a sorcerer. In the Complete Arcane, this precision is lacking. Was it an oversight?"

You'll have for answer: "Complete Arcane is a more recent sourcebook and thus takes precedence. Sudden feats behave like all metamagic feats do for sorcerers."

But with a more careful wording, you may get an answer that'll say it was an error.

Do you have such an email and response?

Patryn, I'm a little surprised at your rules interp. Normally you don't "off the cuff" like this. ;)

All the sudden feats dont take extra casting time, or raise the spell level, so it seems intuitive that it takes nothing extra for a sorceror. Also, I have the MH, so I read the initial rule, which I guess also makes it intuitive for me.
