Sorcerers and Sudden Metamagic Feats

Do you have such an email and response?

Cannot quote it, but yes! ;)

Once, when talking about the Shadowdancers HiPS someone e-mailed them and asked about the size of the shadow, which has to be within 10' (IIRC that was it).

They replied, that the shadow must be large enough to hide the Shadowdancer.

Then, just for fun, someone else e-mailed them, too, and got a completely different answer (that the shadow can be of any size)! :p

Patryn, I'm a little surprised at your rules interp. Normally you don't "off the cuff" like this. ;)

Off the cuff!

Hah! I laugh at you! Hah hah! :D

I just don't see the point of a "Sudden" metamagic feat that doesn't act suddenly - especially given the precedent in the MiniHB.

Again: if one doesn't have the MiniHB........

Besides, given the Primary Source rule, I should be able to ignore the MH. No errata, no "intentions".

Well, you don't have to tell us, tell Wizards, that they forgot to explain in CA how those Sudden Metamagic feats are supposed to work.

I don't have it, either.

However, the first time I ever heard of the Sudden feats, it was here on this board from people who did.

I never even considered that the latter sudden feats - which share the same "in-feat" rules text - would operate any differently until someone mentioned that the "Sudden Metamagic" header text was missing from CD, CA, or CV.

I consider that an oversight, rather than a deliberate change. ;)

Are we absolutely certain that CD, CA, and CV lack any mention of the special rules of the Sudden feats?

The only thing the CA has on Sudden Metamagic feats is: "These metamagic feats don't require modified spell slots..."

That's it. But I'm okay with going to the original source for sudden metamagic feats and nab the appropriate rules-text from the MiniHB: "A sudden metamagic feat doesn't require a full-round action from casters who choose spells as they cast them, such as sorcerers and bards." The MiniHB is not a bad book though, I really like the Marshal's aura ability and have adapted for use in other base classes I use (I can see this working as a nice alternative to bardic music and giving the minor aura to paladins as well).

Heh, I'm used to filling in the holes in rules and such to make them...um, complete. ;)

I'll look again. (I'm getting CV tomorrow night.)

Although CD does not have any Sudden metamagic.

I would be willing to cut and paste the full sudden matamagic text out of the minihb and email it to anyone that wants to read as a pdf. My Email is seeten at gmail dot com, send me an email, and I'll reply to it with the text.
