Spell casting rogues

I am playing a BBn/Rogue human and I have gradually decided to try to move him into a spell casting direction. He has maxxed out his Use Magic Device skill and is the healer of the group when the Cleric is down, using wands and such as. Now, the question is, is the a Prestige class anyone has seen that combines spell casting with a rogue? Draconomicon has one, but it is somewhat difficult to acquire in the RttToEE where he is adventuring. Any ideas??? :heh:

Arcane Trickster is the only one that I'm aware of in core 3.5 D&D material. It is good, but unfortunately you need 5 Wizard or 6 Sorcerer levels to get into it (you need to be able to cast 3rd level arcane spells).

I wish they had also done a lower spellcasting build (ala Spellsword) for the more Rogue-oriented Rogue/Wizard builds.

Just my thoughts ...

And another option is Assassin, but the qualification requirement of having an evil alignment make it unviable for many characters.

Oh yeah, also, consider Bard. It's good for a Cha-based Rogue, and you don't have arcane spell failure in light armor. I think Bard is actually one of the best options for this sort of thing.

Many bard prestige classes would fit. But since most prestige classes improve only existing spellcasting,... which class would you want to start?
