5.) Eventually it is revealed that Jon is the son of Prince Rhaegar and Eddard Stark's sister. I think this mostly because Eddard took the secret of who exactly Jon's mother is to his grave for the dual purpose of defending his sister's honor and protecting John from those who would be interested in using/killing the infant. This would make Jon the Ice to Dany's Fire. I think Jon having the white direwolf also foreshadows that Jon will represent Ice.

Yup. It also explains why Ned was so vehemently against killing off all of the Targaeryns. If Dany and Viserys were killed, Jon would be next.

Dany will land her armies in the next book. I think the Red Witch will go to join her, but we'll be treated to another of Martin's famous off hand character deaths when Dany unceremoniously puts her to the sword. Remember that a witch cost Dany Drogo and her son.

I also think that Jon will completely forswear himself and join with Dany as her consort and husband. I'm thinking that Dany will be the top dog after all is said and done, but the 7 kingdoms will be in ruins.

Rickon will end up considerably worse than that guy from WoT...I think we're seeing another Mountain that Walks in the making. He's going to turn into one sick, evil bastard which is just heartbreaking. Either that or he gets so far gone that Bran will have to do an "Old Yeller" on him, which will be even more heartbreaking. Basically, Rickon is made for great tragedy.

The effect of the Wolves:

Sansa is lost without her wolf. All of them provide some guidance or protection, if only they were listened to. The wolves also seem to provide a certain moral and mental strength to the kids. Note how Jon has heeded Ghost the most and overall seems in the best shape. Robb ignored Grey Wind's warnings the most and look what happened.

Arya is still connected to her Wolf. Notice how she was constantly dogged by wolves in her travels. Her wolf has built a huge pack and still protects her from afar.

*sigh* And I'm still mourning the loss of the Red Viper. Damn he was cool.

A Feast for Crows is the next book due out here April 2003, but that's not written in stone. It will cover the 5 year gap that would have occurred between A Storm of Swords and A Dance with Dragons, those years would have been covered in flashbacks but it wasn't working out and there was so much story to tell that GRRM decided another book was needed. I don't think Dany will land in Westeros during the AFfC but will land during ADwD.

Wylla was Jon's and Edric Dayne's milk mother but she's a red herring IMO. Ned answers one of two questions that Robert asks him in AGoT when they are on a hill overlooking the land. Robert asked/said something like "there was that one time... what was her name"... then just before Ned answers "you know the one, your bastard's mother..." Ned says "Wylla and I just as soon not talk about her" paraphrasing from US ppb page 110 AGoT.

This series is the best on the shelf IMO. I can't wait for April!

Here are my answers:

1. Arya vs *Forgot Name* when she gets Needle back
Chilling (Even Sandor freaks it)

2. I agree with The wildlings vs. the wall. Very Helms Deep
and Liked both leaders, Jon and King Beyond the Wall

3. Tywin because that barstard deserved being brought down

...and the ONLY time i ever threw a book in disgust was when i thought Arya bit the bullet in Book 3 (man i nearly cried)
GRRM you barstard! :)

4. Arya and Sandor (The best parts of the books so far :) ) ,
Jaime and Tyrion (altho only small , very cool)

5. Arya being so kick ass its not funny :D
I think this girl will play a pivotal role in the books...
and if you cant tell already, shes my favourite, i love her
i also love Sandor (he rules)

6. Anywhere Sandor or Arya is :)

I love these books, second best after 'The Assassin Trilogy'

What I love the most about this series is how unpredicable it is. Look at Mystic Eye's predictions...he's half way thru the last book! And so tragically wrong. :D

The only prediction I stand by is the Frey's. I think they all die, every single one. But I've said that here before. :)

PS

Regarding Arya,

I think that in the next couple of books, someone will emerge as being the focal point to the events, someone who will be incredibly important to the story, and the 7 Kingdoms. This character will most likely appear to be the salvation of all that is good in the land.

And Arya will assassinate that character. ;)

Thats why she rocks!

She is going to be one kick ass assassin/wolfbitch :)

I love her

If GRRM kills her off I seriopusly will stop reading his books :D

The Fool

As to the importance of Arya/Jon/Dany...Arya represents the song (aria, natch), Jon's the ice, Dany's the fire.

1. Viper vs. Mountain (although it ticked me off).
2. I'll concur again, the siege on the Wall.
3. Mmm...so many to choose from. ;) A tie between Viserys and Joffrey. Gods, I hated Joffrey. ;)
4. Well, its not quite two people...but Tyrion vs. his whole family.
5. Tyrion will end up becoming someone fairly important, though I rather doubt if he'll join with Dany. Something will definitely happen with Arya and her wolf, although I don't know what. I think, too, that Jon will end up being a Targaryen and maybe he and Dany will split the kingdom between them. As to the importance of Arya/Jon/Dany...Arya represents the song (aria, natch), Jon's the ice, Dany's the fire. Three heads to the dragon. And the very final scene in #3...redeemed it all. All I gotta say is I may have picked up on more irony in the story.

The Freys parallel the story of the Rat King? Just remember that cats kill rats. :)

Probably spoilers!!!!!

Dang, I find myself posting to every thread involving this book series :)

1. Syrio vs the guards when they tried to capture Arya. This one man held off a few ARMORED knights with just a stick. To bad he died.

2. Large scale, the battle of Kings Landing. Very cool, even the river burned.

3. Death Scene, got to go with the cart king. Not a drop of blood was spilled.

4. Jamie and Briennie (sp), the ugly chick who was in Renly's Rainbow guard. I think they are going to work together alot in the next books.

5. Arya joing Dany's army as an assassin, Bran being the the King beyond the wall and just for the hell of it Rickon will be king when all is said and done

6. If I were trapped in Westros, I would be chillin in Braavos. Sounds like a fun place and no war yet

My speculation comes in the form of questions more than anything - I'm not even going to try and answer them, there just isn't enough information to go on.

What is Mellisandre's real agenda? Does she really represent Rh'llor (sp?). If so, if Rh'llor really a good guy? Where do Thanos and Beric fit into all of this then? Why was Master Aemon so intrigued by the lack of heat in Stannis's sword? And if Rh'llor really is the one true god, from whence comes the power of the Old Gods, the Wall, the wargs, the greenseers...? If, as some people have said, Mellisandre is going to go over to Dany, why is Dany going to accept someone that wants to sacrifice children?

Everyone seems to assume that Arya is going to be a major good guy. Is she? All you can say for certain at the moment is that she is becoming more and more bitter, vengeful, cut-throat and capable of slaying in cold blood.

I think Mellisandre really worships Rh'llor but I don't think the guy is all he's cracked up to be. Thoros is also a follower, and he seems to have converted Beric. I'm not sure what they'll do. Meanwhile, I'm of the strong opintion that Mel has the wrong guy in Stannis. His glowing sword was supposed to be burning, not just shedding light. The true Lightbringer(?) or whatever it's called needed a steel sheeth because it singed leather ones.

I think the Old Gods, the Seven, and Rh'llor might all be different gods for different times and people, or they might be the same (as some characters suggest).

Dany won't take Mellisandre, and may even kill her. That would put a crimp in the red woman's plans now wouldn't it? But Thoros will raise her.
