SPOILERS- More questions for Song of Ice & Fire readers

1. What's your favorite small-scale combat scene? (one on one or few combatants)

Bronn vs. Lady Lysa's champion, saving Tyrion.

2. What's your favorite large-scale combat scene?

The Battle of Blackwater, hands down!

3. Which death scene is your favorite?

Favorite, not quite the word I would use, but the Red Wedding. I was such a harrowing and powerful scene, I think I put the book down for a couple of days. Several of my friends had similar reactions. I sad and angry emails from friends right after they read that moment - one friend went into work so upset that his co-workers thought he'd maybe lost a family member and were asking him what was wrong.

4. Which rivalry between two people have you enjoyed the most?

Tyrion vs. Tywinn...I love Tyrion, he's my favorite character and seeing him finally get the better of Tywinn was great...though I think he'll be a very scarred man after that, possibly becoming quite evil, in a way.

5. Useless speculation time: Your predictions, however poorly founded, about the future of the story... or just where you'd like to see the story go.

Varys and Illyrio Mopatis are in kahoots, there is one very strong hint of this. Anyway, I think Varys has some very specific goal he's working towards and I think he and Illyrio are part of some secret organization , probably an organization of eunichs, they seem so similar in many ways. The real tip off to me was seeing Varys' room, it was so damn spartan - it's completely at odds with the public face he presents, seemingly so in love with luxuries (perfumes, fine clothes, etc.) I think the guy is really working for some higher purpose.

Several people have suggested Jon's real lineage might be Rhaegar and Lyanna. This is probably so, there are a lot of things that suggest it: Dany's dream of the blue rose in the wall of ice, the murky background of Jon, the murky events surrounding the death of Lyanna, the promise she made Ned swear...Rhaegar dying with "a woman's name" on his lips, the blue rose he gives her at the tournament of Harrenhall...it's all there, so it would seem. And yes, I think Jon will be the 2nd head of the Dragon, the big question is, who will be the 3rd? The Dragon has three heads...

6. If you were trapped in Westeros at the beginning of aGoT, knowing fully what was to come but you COULDN'T CHANGE it (i.e. telling Robert about "his" children before his death), what would you do? Where would you go?

I'd go and find a nice, cozy town in the Vale of Arryn in some out of the way dell somewhere and hopefully wait out the wars, preferably with some saucy wench helping to warm my bed for me.

More useless speculation......

We are almost all on agreement that Tyrion will join Dany's army. I think Tyrion will be Dany's husband. Now that witch said to Dany that no MAN would ever have her again or something to that affect. Well Tyrion has never been accused of being a man, always refered to as the DWARF.

I don't remeber the exact quotes so I may just be in my own liitle fantasy world here.

Well maybe, but indirectly the same could be said for Jon Snow too, few ever call him a man.. always a Bastard. It's all a technicallity and how you look at it.

I could go on for a while about the books myself, but it has all been said. I do thoroughly agree with Dany taking over the 7 kingdoms though. She has been one of my favorite character's right from the very start when Viserys sold her. I had a feeling about her, and I know I am right. :D I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!

Same here. I literally had to physically put the book down -I was so upset. Damn good book when it moves you that much. But a few minutes later as I was trying to busy myself with something else, I went right back to it. :p

Forgive me, but what isthe story of the Rat King?

I don't remember the exact story, but it's told in the third book, in the chapter where Bran, Jojen, Mira, and Hodor are at the abandoned castle on The Wall (the old, haunted one). The Rat King had cooked someone's children/family in a pie and served it to them. He was then cursed into a giant white rat and is supposed to still roam the abandoned castle of the Watch. This story, I think, had something to do with violation of the Guest Right.

Sorry I can't remember more. Maybe someone else can help us both?!

You're right. The Rat King's crime wasn't baking the people into a pie and serving it to their kin (he was getting vengeance), but rather that they were guests in his home and as such, were protected by Guest Rights against harm from the homeowner. This is why we (think we) know something very terrible (and fitting) will befall the Freys.

Thanks, Velenne. I think your right -- those Freys are in for something nasty (deservedly, so, imo). Any speculations as to what? Picked off one by one by unCat, Beric, & Co (as in the epilogue)? Eaten by all those wolves roaming around?

Also a retelling of Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus.

I'd have to say that the practice fight Jon Snow had with the guy from Eastwatch when he got hit on the head and had a flashback to a conflict with Robb about bastardry and then beat the crap out of the guy from Eastwatch without realizing it. He'd always seemed to be on good terms with Robb before that. Not quite so...bitter.

2. What's your favorite large-scale combat scene?

Probably would have to be the wall. King's Landing is cool, too, but the wall has more of a sense of desperate odds to it.

3. Which death scene is your favorite?

Again, Visyris's death was as brutal as I wanted it to be.

4. Which rivalry between two people have you enjoyed the most?

The rivalry between Jaimie and Tyrion that is beginning to surface shows real promise.

5. Useless speculation time: Your predictions, however poorly founded, about the future of the story... or just where you'd like to see the story go.

First of all, I do believe that Jon will be the second head of the dragon and might well be Dany's cousin. Bran is probably with Benjen Stark (Coldhands, I would guess), right now, but I'm not sure if he will emerge as the King of the Wildlings, because I think Jon is going to let the wildlings settle the Gift. Arya (one of the coolest characters, so far) is starting to scare the hell out of me. I'm sure she'll emerge as an assassin (possibly in the service of Dany).

I agree that the Red Witch will drop Stannis in favor of Dany when Dany arrives, but I'm pretty sure she knows Stannis is not the person in her predictions...unless she is a servant of the Dark Nameless God, in which case, she'll probably back Stannis against Dany. I have a suspicion that Arya is going to assassinate her. And, if she finds out about Stannis' role in killing Robb and Catelyn, she'll kill him too.

I think the previous assertion that Rikkon will become the next Mountain that Rides is pretty likely. I don't know who will have to put him down--maybe Bran--he was always the closest sybling to Rikken.

Sansa, I think, will be a very strong character, when all is said and done--if she lives long enough to get there. I think she's going to end up marying Littlefinger (giving him the North), but I don't think she'll remain ignorant of his lies forever. When she finds out, I can't say what she's likely to do, but it won't be pretty.

Tyrion will meet up with Jon again, somehow, but I really have no clues as to where he's headed. Probably he'll find Sansa at about the time that Littlefinger is revealed to her as a lier. I'm pretty sure that Littlefinger will die at his hands, somehow, someday. If he survives.

Cersei is going to wipe out the Lannisters by ruining all of her father's plans. Jaimie may end up killing her.

Dany is going to conquer the Westeros almost overnight, when she hits the mainland (and why not? She is the rightful heir!). The real question will be whether or not she can remain a relatively good ruler, or become a mad one. If she teams up with Jon, I'd say good, but I still don't know who the third head is.

6. If you were trapped in Westeros at the beginning of aGoT, knowing fully what was to come but you COULDN'T CHANGE it (i.e. telling Robert about "his" children before his death), what would you do? Where would you go?

I'd join the Wall. The politics aren't as thick there (yet) and the enemy is going to be the same one everyone is facing soon. The people on the Wall are going to be much better prepared for it, even if they are on the front line.
