Spring Attacking Rogues

Alike in dignity? :D At least you didn't mention whose loins they are sprung from.

:D I watched "The Reduced Shakespeare Company Presents, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" last night, and when I started typing "two rogues..." I couldn't help adding "alike in dignity". Wondered if anyone would get it :)

And yeah, that's pretty much what we came up with - one rogue has to take it for the team. However, one thing we did come up with that is slightly better - the rogue that is taking it for the team could have a reach weapon, and then theoretically stay a little more out of the way. Also with spring attack, if someone is next to you, you can move back 5', attack them, then move back another 5', and then they have to suck an AoO to hit you.

I agree that there ought to be a way for two people to strike simultaneously without having to ready an action (which still isn't quite simultaneous, but it would get the sneak attack).

Couldn't you Ready (to coincide with your partner's action), to spring attack from a flanking position both at the same time?

...

I am thinking that the Delay action (or inaction ;)) is more appropiate?

YMMV

Mike

Nope.

Ready won't allow an attack + move, which is what you need for Spring Attack.

Delay lets you act on another initiative count, noy inconcert with someone else.

Can't be done by core rules, without being very generous. The only mechanic that might allow you to attack + move on a Readied Action is a charge (single move only, not double) with Ride-By Attack. It's s small stretch to allowed Readied Charges, but you could reasonably allow it by the rules (you could also very reasonably disallow it).

The rogue would HAVE to be mounted AND have Ride-by Attack. THEN you could do it, if you tweak Charge just enough to not nerf Ride-By Attack completely.
