Tokiwong's cell phone starts to ring. "Hey Kim, Kareem. How's everything going at the clinic? Need me yet?

"Yeah, Alex is talking to a guard at the gate. Might be trouble."

Kim answers the cell-phone...

"Oh... just fine... not much going on here... about to get some supper... the MSF is well as good as can be expected... the TB strain is proving stronger then the antidotes and dosages for the victims... just like i said..."

Kim pauses with a frown...

"As far as that goes you tell him to be careful... I know how he can get a little rowdy... but we are just fine.. though if you want to stop by... I think we can work something out."

 

[Luddite]

Kim answers the cell-phone...

Looks up at Kim as he finishes the call, he shakes his head and sighs... Graduate Assitants....

Lana answers Kim's invitation with a hint of regrets in her voice.

-''I'm affraid you are not going to get a nice peaceful supper at the canteen. It's noisy, crowded and the food is mediocre. But on my salary, I can't afford to eat at the restaurant every day!''

[OOC: Was that a cue that you should invite her to a restaurant in Binga? You aren't 100% positive but you think it might work if you present it nicely and don't make it sound like she is abandoning Luddite.

Mind you, I'm not sure I understand why you and Luddite need to split, but it's your call.]

As Lana leads the group toward the canteen, she points toward a spry looking man in his 60s.

''Well, here's Doctor Gournay. He's doing overtime tonight, that's why I knew he'd come. Otherwise you'd never see him come here. Eh, I bet he even brought his own lunch. I think he'd rather get malaria than eat the canteen stuff.

She looks up to Luddite and says, half apology, half acid;

-''I'm sorry. He's a friend of your friend. I shouldn't speak ill of him.''

As you enter, the canteen is as described by Lana. It's in a huge tent and is filled with tables and yet there are obviously not enough. This canteen obviously work at least 10% over its maximal capacity. Today's meals involves a lot of potatoes and other boiled vegetable along with just enough meat to ease the pain.

[ OOC: My goal was to start a casual poker game with Gournay so I could get a feel for him. Since Lana does not seem to like Gournay, and I am guessing his play of poker, He would entertain. Otherwise being left back, look at papers would not be bad. I might call in Ghost to help me break into the Lab later in the night.

For the most part, I am playing a math geek. (not much of a bluff), So I would not mind tinkering at the office with access the files. Even being left to talk "casualy" with other staffers would not be a bother.

But I will let Kim make the move to take her out to dinner.

BTW Is it too late to have a flask/bottle of good scotch. (back at the Lodge) or is there a wet bar in the Lodge itself? ]

Its quite alright. I have delt with many "pecular" people some of them are hard to like at time.

Luddite is introduced to Dr. Gournay

Good evening doctor. I hope all is well with you? Dr. Beaujolais, sends his reguards. We (Beaujolais and I) meet breifly at the UN before I came out here.

OOC: I assume some small talk here.

He also warned me not play cards with you, lest I may loose my shirt. I hope he is jesting. I was looking for a mild diversion from the numbers for a while.

Looks around at the canteen, and at the (dare he call it) food.

But first, there is a small resturant at the Lodge we are staying at. How about we all relax over a nice meal and talk in more plesent sourounding.

[ OOC:I am assuming there is some resturant in or near the lodge. Does not have to be fancy, but anything would be better then this. ]

Gournay's look at you with indifference at first but he lighten up as Luddite mentions Beaujolais. After some small talk he agrees to a friendly game of poker.

-''No one wants to gamble around here. I'll be glad to play a few round with you. So, how did you meet my friend? At the UN? He must have seemed incredibly boring to you. His official persona isn't a good reflection on his character! I so wish we could meet more often.''

[OOC: Yes, you are still on to visit the labs after supper.

The result of your small talk with Gournay is a disposition check; 14 + 2, no change the subject is neutral towards you. He agrees to a game of poker.

Yes there are restaurants near the lodge. A tacky safari themed restaurant called the ''Lion's Share'' will serve if you decide to go to a restaurant.]

Kim nods to Lana...

"Well if you want... I think there is a decent restaraunt back in Binga I could afford... we can let the old friends gamble... and get some food. Don't worry about the cost, the least I can do for your hard work and dedication."

Kim glances to Luddite then to Lana

"My treat... and a nice quiet dinner and we can discuss the full ramifications of what is going on here... while the two old friends catch up."

OOC: Just felt it was easier or Luddite to do his invetsigation if Lana was not around she obviously does not like Gournay... and if he can Kim will invite her to a nice restaraunt and pay for the meal
