Star Trek: Enhanced

Dark Psion

First Post
The first couple episodes debued this weekend, Miri and Balance of Terror.

And after all the doom and gloom at the Star Trek Boards, I would say I was underwhelmed by the new FX.

For those that didn't see them, basically they replaced all the ships with CGI, but the replacements were scene for scene duplication. So they did not "fix" any of the errors, like "Fire Phasers" and then they lauch Photon Torpedos from the lower navigation sensor. No actual battle damage from the point blank Romulan nuke and no added scenes of the Federation outposts or the Romulan debris.

I do like the way they cleaned up the old scenes, they looked very good, but I have to ask why re-do the FX if you are going to do it exactly the same?

I imagine that even the FX crew who worked on it were ambivalent about the idea.

But I agree: If you're going to do it, go whole hog, or don't do it at all.

Not even. The makeover was way too subtle to notice. Nothing blatant, they even kept the starship scenes as they are for the most part.

But I'm wouldn't say you shouldn't watch it. Personally, it's still good to watch TOS after having been corrupted by B&B Trek. But if you're watching the series solely for CG effect changes, you may be disappointed.
