Applying the science in sci-fi (both hard and social)
The Force is a Universal constant. It is eternal and therefore, like matter cannot be created or destroyed.
People are people regardless of their alien make-up:
1) Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to the Dark-side. Evil is a constant. Like matter it cannot be destroyed, only contained.
2) Where there is despair, there is hope; where there is oppression, freedom will rise; where evil resides good shall follow; this is the basis of the Light. Good is a constant. Like matter it cannot be destroyed, only contained.
3) The Force, both Light and Dark side are constants, so Jedi and Sith (in some form) are also constants. Therefore Jedi and Sith cannot be destroyed (as a whole) but contained.
