Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord

We have indeed no evidence that he isn’t habitually asexual, so maybe it doesn’t bother him at all. Actually, now I think about it, I can only think of one Sith who had sex, at least in the films (and he probably didn’t have any after he went full Sith). Maybe they take a vow of chastity?
I am pretty sure Palpatine had sex, even if his "children" were the result of cloning. And Dooku too. But those guys had "regular lives" they were hiding behind. Maul, on the other hand, got the express pass to the Dark Side. I am not sure he had any opportunity to pal around while under Sidious, which was most of his life I think?

Yes, I remember reading this back in the day (when Maul just popped up in front of Savage in Clone Wars) and thought "surely the writers are taking the piss". I mean, you just need a lot of things below the waist; even if it's cauterised and sealed, and you technically have a functional cardiovascular system and brain (and of course didn't die from the massive trauma because Force Hate) I really don't know how you're sup. posed to urinate and defaecate, as a basic starting point, and therefore eliminate toxins or deal with having eaten or drunk anything. I think "Force survival trance and Control-based biofeedback" is doing a hell of a lot of heavy lifting here.

(The Doylist reason is, of course, that Lucas said "let Maul return, somehow" out of nowhere and Filoni said, "how TF, you cut him in half?!!" but then had to make it work, and was presumably just doing it through gritted teeth. But then did an amazing job with it! Post-bisection Maul is a 100% better character despite having only 50% the body mass.)

One obvious point - Maul therefore spends the last two decades of his life not being able to have sex (at least conventionally) and this is probably pissing him off. And thus making him more powerful.
How do you know that was Lucas and not Filoni who brought Maul back? (may have been Lucas, but Filoni had far more control over the cartoon if I recall, and Ahsoka...his pet...was more a pure Filoni thing than a Lucas thing, along with many of the other introduced characters of the cartoon).

Lucas is given far more credit on the Clone Wars than he actually probably deserves, and far less credit on the later portion of the EU novels (Legacy of the Force and the later portion of the New Jedi Order series) than he also deserves.

Neither of which were really A-class Canon (or whatever it is called today...G class...L Class) at the time (which were basically just the movies, the books that based themselves on the movies, and the Radio Dramas).

They both were a step below that, both had Lucas involved...but not so in depth that they were considered as official as his stuff that he was truly over, and were not entirely controlled in as much detail as his own Canon. I think many put the Clone Wars above the EU novels...but both were not entirely Lucas's creations so not his actual universe (but considered an alternate universe he approved and was fine with,,,unlike the Disney one that came after which would fall in line with F Canon...aka...Fandom Canon).

Darth Sion manages to come back from being blasted into chunks and deep frozen by vacuum (KotOR2). And he can do it so reliably that he uses it as a tactic.
I think the Video games were considered even lower canon than the cartoons and even the novels. I think they were lower on the canon totem pole than even the comic books and each game varied in how canon it was considered (for example, I think the Force Unleashed was entirely non-canon, though Lucas's original suggested name for Starkiller is hilarious as it was Darth Doodoo....something I think he came back to using when he came up with the name of Count Dooku).

It doesn’t really matter what is and isn’t canon. It’s what someone - Chris Avallone, who is a pretty good writer - thought would fit into the Star Wars universe.

And canonicity didn’t stop KotOR Easter eggs popping up in Andor.
