You know, not everyone agrees with you on this. Doesn't make them wrong or stupid.....I thought he was damaging the sabers at first also. As did my wife.
Yeah, I gotta say, some folks have much faster eyes than I do. I honestly thought he was damaging the light sabers. Then the lightsabers popped back on. So, we have zero explanation for why they turned off, not even a hint, then the jedi kinda shrug and their lightsabers turn back on. Again, zero explanation. And folks are wondering why I'm confused? Nearly fifty years of Star Wars and this hasn't even been hinted at as a possibility, unless I've been reading thirty or forty year old novels. Never seen before.

You'd think that maybe, just maybe, if there was this material that could short out lightsabers, someone might have used it/mentioned it before now. I mean, didn't we just have an entire couple of seasons of Mandalorean that spent significant amounts of time explaining Beskar? It's not like that spear just came out of nowhere and started blocking light sabers.

But, hey, sure, let's bomb something like this into the middle of a series with zero foreshadowing, because, of course, we can rely on a bajillion Youtubers rushing to the explanation.

The jedi where supposed to be confused. That was Qimir's tactic to keep them off balance. Otherwise one against eight would have no chance. The fight was shot at full speed in the dark to make it clear what was happening was confusing. Realistic combat is confusing. That was the problem with Ahsoka - all the fights where super-slow*. Easy to follow, unrealistic, and unexciting.

*As already mentioned this was in part because of the use of digital sets in Ahsoka. The Acolyte used a physical set so the fight could be shot at full speed using martial arts movie techniques. This is why it looks a bit stagy. It is a stage.

Yeah, streaming is killing people’s ability to cope with serialised storytelling.
Yeah. I have a few friends who won't watch a show when it comes out. They will watch other shows until enough time has passed that the entire season of the new show has been released, just so that they don't have to wait to find out what happens next.

People forget that the anticipation that builds over the week makes the show even better than if you just click next episode.

He only goes after one of the two sabers. The second blade(not hilt) hits his helmet and shorts out, making it clear that it has something to do with the metal. Sure you don't see what he did to the first blade when he blocked with his bracelet, but you do get a clear look at how the second blade goes out.
