I am both bummed and delighted. Equal parts.

First, cause I am sure this thread will level off in the next week or two, thank you to all who participated in this thread. I loved reading all the speculations, and I just loved being involved with a long thread, basically from the beginning of the thread. A first for me.

Bummer Stuff
  • Sol dying. We knew it was going to happen. But man, I really liked the guy! I appreciate that everything Vernestra said about him was in fact true: His love twisted his behavior. He was acting irresponsibly. And Ki Adi Mundi's cannon is safe, for now!
  • Vernestra. She is doing exactly what she said Sol is doing. Being twisted by something she loves.

Delightful Stuff
  • The fight between Sol and Qimir. Wow. Loved it. Sol is a fighter.
  • me thinks that was Mother Korill in the cave!!!!
  • The twins really are One!
  • Vernestra. I understand why she is doing what she is doing. She can kind of see the future, and still thinks she can do something to stop it. She hasn't learned that she is just a puppet that can see the strings.
  • Sol was the fire that started all of this, i think that is really clear. His unawareness of his own emotional attachment really was a match that started this fire. But i still maintain, his are not the only actions that mattered. While he started it, everyone else threw kindling on it (metaphorically).
  • The Senator - holy crap that line about "You are trying to control the uncontrollable" excellent stuff, and at the heart of the Jedi's deepest problem. The Jedi seem to me to be really patterned on Zen. And I remember listening to Alan Watts one time, and him talking about something like this. That the harder you try to stop something the more it happens. Until you realize it is all a game. For the Jedi I think they need to learn that they can't get rid of emotions. That hiding from them, or denying them, isn't the path, but being aware of them, letting them be, and learning to just sit with the emotions, and not have to do anything with them. Emotions dont' require actions
Great series,
Hope for a season 2

The most thrilling things in this episode were Sol and Qimir fighting and then Vernestra confirming that Qimir was her student. Most of the rest felt rather... blah. I am not sure how Mae going all the way to the Dark Side after Sol even telling her that it was okay - while she was killing him! - makes sense. But I really do not understand why they had to leave Mae behind, or why the mindwiping. Is mindwiping to that degree new?

Well at least we also had the irony of the Jon Jonzz talking to Vernestra. I wonder if they cast him for that reason rather specifically.

Edit: Oh, and while I am reminding of Koril by damiller's post: Darth Plagueis, is that you?

Mind wiping like that was done as far back as 1994s Jedi academy trilogy.

The mysterious figure was consistent with Darth Plagueis legends depiction. If its him no idea.

I think I realized that I stopped caring about the twins and therefore a lot of the last episode fell flat for me. Loved the Qimir and Sol duel. Was indifferent to most of the rest.

Why did the tracker do what they did? Why didn't Sol ever look for Osha, instead of talking to Mae?

Some fun stuff in this series. Shorten it to a movie without some things that make zero sense, and you really have something.

I liked the overall story and arc.... Just a lot of things that made zero sense, imo.

Man. I've never seen a Jedi Master that was so easily surprised by almost everything. Yet the force seemed to be strong with him during that fight, so...

Overall I liked the episode. I thought it was a nice touch to dress Osha in black and Mae in white for their fight against one another and the swapping of their lightside/darkside personalities. I think it almost had to happen that way. They were the same person so if one is good, the other has to be bad.

The fight between Qimir and Sol was amazing. The choreography for the show has been very good.

The lurker in the cave was not Koril unless her Zabrak appearance 16 years ago was some sort of illusion or disguise. The lurker looks like a Muun, so very likely Darth Plagueis. This gives Plagueis access to the story of Osha and Mae and the idea of their creation, and with Osha training with Qimir, he might have access to a blood sample.
