Humans don't become first primes. Just the Jaffa. Humans are used as slave labor guarded by Jaffa. And as hosts and in the pilot the ones not picked to be hosts were ordered killed.

I am wondering if the wraith may not be tainted ancients, from the plague or if an alternate means to protect themselves from the plague.

No, but the show hasn't gone too in depth as to the origins of the Jaffa. The Jaffa probably have been engineered at some time by the Goa'uld, since the males (I think only the males) die if they're not implanted with a symbiote upon reaching puberty. Obviously the Jaffa wouldn't have originally been like that, and it's entirely possible that the Jaffa were bred from Humans. As far as is known right now though, the Jaffa are a completely seperate species.

That's not quite accurate. Teal'c tried to prevent his son from recieving a symbiote, and I do believe he said his son could have lived a normal life without one.

And not all humans are culled if they're unsuitable hosts. It seems to vary with each System Lord. After all, those folks on Abydos were not hosts, they were just slaves.

ummm ... ummm, man I think the mentioned it in one of the holo-recordings found in Atlantis, or maybe the outpost.

finally watched it (yeah mom who has full cable and a can program a VCR!!)

I liked, Robert Patrick is a great actor ... wish he were still around in the show (I really really liked him in X-files).

I think his character would have softend up or became less hard-core Marine (Marine's are hella cool btw!!!). He did smile at the view, and showed that he respected the Major's abilities when he basically told the LT to simmer down.

I can't wait to get some of the background story ...

Didn't they invent some new chemical substance that kept them alive without the symbiotes? Or maybe it just suppressed them.

I enjoyed it and for a 1st episode I'd rate it as fantastic. The only worry I have is that when the polls come back if the characters I wasn't a big fan of seem popular they'll get air time and I'll turn the chanel.

Also they really should of brought a daniel jackson type, though I suspect the locals will fill that roll. Head local chica really anoying IMO vainly hope she gets downplayed.
