STOP THIEF! Suggestions needed on making your room burglar proof!

DGL

First Post
I'm a 9th level evoker. I'm setting up my new room and am looking for suggestions on how to protect my possessions.

So far, here are my ideas:
- my door, chests, cabinet and all drawers are arcane locked.
- cleric friend to cast a couple of spell glyphs (blindness) on the chests.
- have Sepia Snake Sigil on a couple of books in my bookcase.

I'm leaning away from anything which causes an explosion, as I do not wish to burn down our new tavern.

Also, anyone have any original suggestions on where I can hide my backup spellbooks?

Thanks.

Suggestion 1:
Create a spell or magical item which "hides" your spellbooks away in a pocket dimension from which they come whenever you call. If you do it right you can sneak your spellbooks into your cell with you when you are captured and strip searched.

Suggestion 2:
Create a locating spell which allows you to track down either a coin or an item with the spell any time they are removed from your possession. you may not stop all thieves but you can track them to where they live and blow up their room instead of yours.

Or you could take the cool, hip route and tattoo a couple of key spells on your body.

Sure, detractors think tattoos look stupid and doom you to a life where you can only get work in coffee shops. But, trust me, 9th level invokers can find work anywhere.

edit: PS welcome to the forums!

Ward your home with the Alarm spell around valubles, and then when you get an Alarm, cast Solid Fog in the room. Solid Fog reduces movent to 1/10 normal speed, which will seriously deter thieves, while alos leaving you Line of Effect for the multiple Hold Person's you throw at them. Also consider a Hallow linked with Dimensional Anchor to stop teleporting thieves.

A nasty trick, make a needle (poisoned, even) Invisible, and place it in your keyholes. One, if the would-be burglar peeks in with his eye - youch. Second, if he messes with the lock - lesser youch.

With spells like Dimension Door and Gaseous Form and Teleport around, it's going to be tough to prevent creative intruders from sneaking in. You might want to consider making/purchasing a magic item that can act as some sort of limited Forbiddance, if your DM is game.

I mean, I have to believe that merchants the world over would have invested a bunch o' money in researching something exactly like that.

Ow. Nice idea. He'll have to find some way of making it permanent, though, unless he expects someone to make a bid for his stuff about 90 minutes after he leaves it.

I'll have to remember that one.

Couldn't Permacy do it? Maybe coat it in some invisible oil?

Or just a crude illusion spell might be enough for less-determined burglars.
