Str 2 -- can I peel an orange?

that is my point exactly. 2 str isn't great for a sword weilder, but most non adventurers have low str like this i think.

Probably true for modern city dwellers like us, but the average guy in a typical D&D setting is going to be making his living doing hard manual labor; swinging a scythe, cutting and hauling firewood, etc. I'm guessing someone who did that day in and day out would have no problem picking up a 50 lb. box.

Maybe you should stop using children as your laborers, you sick-o!

I am betting he is a tiny creature. With the neg mods to your attacks you better get weapon finesse.

And its for 3.0, if that matters.

And I decided not to use weapons (I want to carry around my spellbook!). I mean, is 1 point of damage really going to be that big of a deal? If it is vital, I can take the Aoo and try for 1 point of subdual damage from my tiny little fist. A light crossbow would be great for damage, but it weighs so much!

I went for a toad familiar. The idea of a familiar that was stronger than I was seemed disturbing somehow. :)

The edition does matter, actually. A Small light crossbow in 3.5 does 1d6 damage and weighs only two pounds. Slight reduction in damage, but no -4 strength penalty ... But in 3.0, I think you're right. The four pounds for a regular light crossbow would really load you down. You might think about taking EWP: shuriken at some future point. They only weigh 1/10 of a pound each, and you can throw three per attack at one point of damage each. (Strength penalty is irrelevant, as any successful attack deals at least one point of damage.) This will give you something to do in combat when you're out of combat spells, besides cower in impotent fear. :-)

What's the poor little guy going to attack with, his spellbook? :p Seriously, get strength enhancing items. Soon. And pray you never need to carry around more than one book.

On a related note, what happens to this guy once he reaches old age and those negative modifiers drop him below zero? Not that it's likely to matter in-game, but still...

Okaaayyy.

Dice rolling method (one stat MUST be 9, the other 5 stats are rolled by (best 3d6 out of) 4d6 arrange to taste method).

I got, 9, 4, 14, 15, 16, 18. I put the 18 into INT, the 4 into STR, the 9 into CHR, the 14 into WIS, the 15 into DEX, and the 16 into CON.

As a gnome, the STR went from 4 to 2. (In theory one can play a gnome or halfling with str 1, but I have never seen anyone roll low enough for this to happen).

As a gnome in 3.0 with a toad familiar, the CON went from 16 to 20.

I haven't started playing with the character yet. I just wanted to get an idea for roleplaying. (For instance, asking other characters for help in, well, peeling an orange).

I will definitely be more of a "hide behind the party / run away, and then cast spells from a distance" kind of mage.

Weapon Finesse would help the attack bonus, but not the damage, alas.

I suppose I could in theory do up to 4 points of damage with a club if I got a critical and maxed out my damage, but the odds are greatly in favour of my only doing 1 damage with any meelee or thrown weapon, so I don't think I will bother (not worth the weight).

That's easy. I would become permanently "helpless" and would have to retire the character. :)

I like the idea of shurikens but am not sure I want to blow the feat. Maybe I will get some and just take the -4 attack penalty. After all, my attack bonus is likely going to be bad anyhow, and a natural 20 always hits.

If the party found a strength enhancing item, I think the fighter/barbarians would wrest it from my puny little arms. :(

I'm glad to see your attitude, Particle_Man! Ignore those people who keep trying to work around your lack of might. Play it to the hilt!

Strain at removing the stopper from your water skin. Insist that any time climbing is required that the party tie a rope around your waist and haul you up. Get the burly fighters to carry your gear for you.

Of course, if you ever come across a portable hole, grab it and say "Mine!" Bags of holding and the handy haversack are also good, but they still have weight even when empty.
