Yeah, this movie is supposed to take place in a universe where supers are established. "Earned" is going to be about how well the story is told.

A good thing they didn't do Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia, Chewbacca, C3P0 & R2D2 origine movies, before they did Star Wars New Hope.
You can have ensemble cast without preamble, as show in Guardian of the Galaxy, by Gunn.

The "earned" thing is why any new MCU movie feels like I have to do five to twenty movie homework to see a new one. I really hope DC goes with same universe, superficially-linked stories route — and I think internally GotG did this, they mostly work without the other movies. I don't want to do homework anymore.

Oh, I'm well aware of that. As stated, above, I'm just saying that DC hasn't been able to do that so far. I'm not talking about this movie. For some unknown reason the animated side of DC has been able to pull that sort of thing off, whereas the live action group just hasn't. Historically.
