Ayais Paeir is the eldest son of an honored eldest son of an honored eldest son, putting him in the position to continue his tribe's legacy into the future and granting him the Right of Counsel feat. Being called as a cleric instead of a wizard was a bad sign to start, but Ayais questioning the wisdom of being deathless sent the tribal leaders into a frenzy. While he served his time as a squire to the deathless with honor, his questions made his superiors anxious to put it mildly. His superiors decided unofficially to send Ayais out into the world in hopes he would die without a legacy granting him nobility.
When the three paragon levels are earned, a strange truth comes out: Ayais is not a full-blooded elf at all, leading to the paragon levels being half-elf instead of elf.
Gosh.
First a wanna be fighter/magic-user in the grand elf tradition with an exaggerated view of his own cleverness. Now a scion of an honoured elf family. So Rain is caught between the rock of her own racial arrogance and the hard place of her .. well, her own personal flaw. What a tangled web we weave for our brave adventurers. Will it tie them together in bonds forged in shared adversity, or entangle them all in personal tragedy. Stay tuned to find out.
(It sounds much better if you read it in the voice of a 60's radio announcer.)
I was also thinking of taking Right of Council for Rain. The honour of the Right would be like a counterpoint to abomination of her draconic ancestory. Is she permitted to speak to her ancestors? Is she even permitted to enter to City of the Dead? Or even to live? Diplomacy I think may be a key skill for Rain. Perhaps I should choose a dragon that provides it as a class skill. Yes, a good idea I think.
...
Nnnooooooooooooooooo!
There is not a single dragon with Diplomacy as a class skill. Nor is it a class skill for Sorcerer's or Rangers. Rain is so screwed.
