D&D 5E Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide: Player Content Guesses

Judgin by the weight on Amazon, it should be like 170-ish pages long.

The weight of the SCAG looks more comparable to Hoard of the Dragon Queen and the Rise of Tiamat.

SCAG weighs in at 1.2 lbs, Hoard of the Dragon Queen at 1.4 lbs and Rise of Tiamat at 1.2 lbs. Could the SCAG be as small as 96 pages? If true, that would be a bit disappointing.

Uh, the MM weights 2.5 lbs and is 352 pages long. That's weird...

Just how thick is RoT's cover??

Uthgardt Barbarian
Elven Bladesinger
Purple Dragon Knights
Oath of the Crown (Paladin) - oath to civilization and sovereign nation or deity of law and order
New [Barbarian] Totems
New Warlock Patron: Undying (multiversal references mentioned)
Tiefling and Half-elf customization options
New Background (unnamed) that involves being the heir to something valuable; a bit of lore, a strange tattoo, etc.

I like the sound of this mess :)

I don't care if every class gets something new. As a matter of fact, some classes already have more than others, so if anything I'd like to see a bit of help to those who still have only 2 subclasses.

But I really like that they wouldn't just expand character material in large blocks (classes and races) but also with smaller ones such as new class features alternative choices (e.g. fighting styles) or subclass' (e.g. totems), race variants...

I just want the stuff more tied to the Realms. If you are bringing out a Sword Coast Campaign Setting.

A) Then it should be tailored to the Realms
B) THen it should be focused on the Sword Coast. ( Purple Dragon Knights are okay but Cormyr I dont think has ever been counted as part of the Sword Coast.. ever). And Bladesingers again are not something native to the Sword Coast region
C) There will not be a new sub race for that many of the races. I think we might get 2 'new' races at most. One is already speculated as the Tiefling Sub race.
D) I hope we get information on say the Host tower of the Arcane in Luskan or the Defenders of Candlekeep etc. Sword Coast is more than just Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter and Waterdeep.

E) Have no issue with them redifining the Gods of FR from the PHB (which again had a lot of gods there). I woudnt mind a single new domain or 2 new domains at most. Certainly bring in any Gods who are prominently worshiped in Sword Coast Region (whether that be Monstrous or not). I certainly wouldnt expect to see Ellistrae or Vhaerun in this book.

Eilistraee and Vhaeraun are worshiped in the Sword Coast area. The activity of the worshipers of Eilistraee is quite relevant in the area near Waterdeep. Besides, despite its name, if you read Steve Kenson's interview on Dragon+, the book will be an update to the whole Realms anbd its gods, with emphasis on the Sword Coast region. Both deities would certainly fit. The book is also supposed to provide a ''tremedous wealth'' of deities, so, with the already confirmed return of the twins in 5e, I would expect to see them.

There's also the fact that the guide has been said to provide info on how the various races fit in FR and, given that Eilistraee and Vhaeraun are iconic to the drow in the Realms, their appearance in the book is quite likely, IMO.

Also interesting to note that, based on the description of the map, the Sword Coast goes from Amn to Icewind Dale, and from the Moonshaes to the Dalelands: that's a pretty fat chunk of territory, and would explain the Purple Dragon Knights.
