"Didn't the captives come from Red Larch originally? Perhaps making the trek there would be worth it if we keep a low profile. If not there, I say take the trail north to Beliard, going overland is just asking for trouble with a crowd of refugees."

OOC: Some may have been from Red Larch, but if I recall correctly we originally were asked to look into the disappearance of the delegation from Mirabar, which is a long way away!

Actually, maybe the answer is to go back to whichever town the quest giver is staying in!! :-P

Desairn Valley, Day 8, Morning

GM:
Is Duran still furry at this point I would assume not off the top of my head i think it only lasts a hour or so.
No he would not be. Wild shape does only last an hour.

I think Red Larch is where we thought there were cult spies, so I don't think there.

Another option would be to cut across country to Westbridge, how large a town is that?
You have confirmed there is a spy in Red Larch that reports to the cult in Riverguard.
Westbridge is comparable in size to Beliard. Getting there would be very hard going though the hills without roads, but would certainly offer the best safety, it is unlikely that the cult would have thought it somewhere you would try and flee to.

"Didn't the captives come from Red Larch originally?
You were asked by Harbuk in Red Larch to help find the missing delegation from Mirabar. Two of the escapees are from that delegation but most of the captives are from homesteads in the area.

As the group pauses to catch their breath Erol sneaks off back along the trail that you have just come. He notices only a couple of humans following but they seem to notice Erol and go into hiding themselves. They are most likely scouts, but are they scouts for a larger pursuit party or just keeping tabs on the escapees for an ambush later?

Either way, with dawn less than an hour away, you'll be able to see much easier soon. Of coarse you'll also be much more easily seen.

On the plus side you determine that you are definitely closer to Beliard.

Dessarin/Stone Monastery
Day 7/Near dawn
Round 0

Errol headed back to the camp where the others rested. “We’re closer to Beliard,” he said. “We also have someone tailing us. Humans. I don’t know who they are following us for.”

With the information delivered, Errol went to his own bedroll to catch a little bit of sleep before they moved out.

Reszor, magical rapier - Rapier (uncommon), requires attunement (Held by Errol)
Reszor was commissioned by a soldier turned assassin to enhance his ability to kill without being detected. It has a star motif etched into the blade and the handle is of blue leather. Dried blood clings to the blade and cannot be cleaned off. The weapon counts as magical and when you make an attack against on opponent while hidden the attack will make no noise. Additionally, when you make an attack with this weapon and get to use bonus damage dice, such as superiority dice or sneak attack dice, roll an additional die and discard the lowest. When you say the command word "Reszor" the blade will glow with dim light out to a 5ft radius, saying the command word again will turn the light off. Finally there is a mild curse on the blade that drives the wielder to kill. After rendering an opponent incapacitated or unconscious make a DC7 WIS saving throw to stop yourself from killing the creature.

"We could, though we are hardly at full strength and they may also be alert for such. However, I'm happy to give that a try, and let Sir Jondal lead the rescued folk on. I still think Westbridge is the safest option, but I have no strong feelings either way."

OOC: Have we had a chance for a long rest, or a short rest, or no rest at all? ;-)
