D&D 5E (2014) Tall's PotA Campaign - IC

"Please allow me to explain. These symbols we keep seeing, Air and Stone, belong to what the history books flat out call cults. Take a deep breath gentlemen, you're in the heart of the air cult... don't drink the punch" J.V. says with a childish snicker before the serious expression he held earlier returns. "These cults have been fighting each other since their existence. And at times almost wiping each other out, but they're always able to come back to life. Seems to me that these guys hit that envoy because some members of the opposing cult were in it."

Duran's smile quickly vanishes and is replaced with a look of concern "What? Cult, envoy I fear I may be missing something. If these cults seek to upset the natural balance they must be stopped!"

GM:
OOC: @Thateous I think you mean koolaid :P

Let me know if you want to move to the feast, or do something else (although you don't have that much time left). Duran, will have his normal duties in the stables to complete before he is allowed to attend. The knights are expecting to use their mounts this evening so you will have to have all the equipment ready (not on the mounts yet).

Errol looked at JV with surprise. “Air cult?” he asked. “And this became pertinent information only now?” He had a hard time keeping the sarcasm out of his voice. “That changes the math considerably.

Errol turned his attention back to the old man. “Apparently the Feathergale Knights attacked a trade envoy from Mirabar traveling through the area. The Mirabarans are obviously unhappy, so we have been looking into it. We found clues at the site of the attack that led us here. The envoy may very well be one of these prisoners, then.”

Errol took a breath. “We might be able to use the excuse of the feast to sneak off and look around. Unless anyone can think of a reason we could bow out of the hunt and snoop around after they leave?”

"Well this changes everything the fiends attacked my village, that's how I know there are prisoners here. I wont be missed at the feast, but I feel like some sabotage is in order. Wouldn't it be tragic if a few saddles frayed away"

Errol considered all they had learned since coming to the Spire. “Perhaps that could be useful,” he told Daren, “but I am not sure that all of the Knights are cult members. Certainly I know of one that wants to be free of this place, and she hinted that Lord Thurl may be ruling under duress. She seemed...frightened. How can we be sure only cult members take a long trip to the bottom of the canyon?”

'I think frayed saddles would be too easily found anyway. Either we take the long view and join up to gather information over a few weeks, or we leave and try to find their other base, since the prisoners are obviously not here.

It's a shame they all fly, that makes them so much harder to track!"

" I may have a way to help with that.... it does come with a certain set of risks though. I know a trick to see through the eyes of any of nature's creatures. It does however leave me blind and deaf as such completely vulnerable for the duration." Duran once again looks concern this "trick" he made sound so simple was one of the more difficult he had learned.

GM: Just a couple of points, the trade delegation from Mirabar was a few dozen strong, but just the envoy.

Duran will know that the strange robed men who Thurl answer to come and go on their own flying mounts.
