I thought people were happy that DM empowerment has returned to D&D? Didn't so many rail about how rules and player demand eroded DMs' ability to run the game as they see fit?

Has Gygaxain Naturalism fallen out of style? Didn't many rail against how D&D is easy mode and that it coddles its player base?
