The 3.5 Rogue

First Post
Well this topic is all for the revised rogue, basically some things that will be easier for the potential rogue player. Since this is a revision of the game, I wouldn't take these changes out of context, I expect every class will be getting the same "tweaks" in places we haven't really perceived. I just thought of a bunch for rogues ;)

Feats:

Weapon Finesse now grants using Dex instead of Str to all weapons that apply. Hurrah! Feel free to take this feat and switch between your daggers, shortswords, and rapiers.

2 Weapon Fighting requires one feat now! Woohoo! Prepare to dual-wield at 1st level, especially with human rogues and the feat above.

Skill Focus is actually more often taken by wizards for prcs than rogues, but for those rogues that love skills, celebrate tonight cuz Skill Focus is going to be +3.

Spells:

Haste wasn't always given to a rogue as a first priority-type thing, but the new Haste is almost more beneficial to Rogues than it is to fighters! Rogues have tumbling to make use of the movement, and with new 3.5 2wf rogues we all want an extra attack and a small attack bonus! Yeah!

Abilities:

No more waiting for the rogue to search every 5ft of a room, every room. New and improved rogues will automatically search for traps as they move about! Booyah!

Feel free to add your own observations.

Except Weapon Finnese requires BAB +1 ;)

I love rogues, my guess is trap sense is just a way to state that you can find and disarm traps with DCs of 20+ (The Traps entery in the rogue special ability).

It does? Sweet! The rogue in my Scarred Lands party is gonna be very, very happy when he hears that. :D

The rogue in 2e did not rock. In fact, it reeked.
Hey, I *LIKED* the 2E thief. Granted, it worked best in multiclass combinations, but when there are deadly traps on the doors of enemy latrines, and you really, really have to go, it pays off.

Isn't this normal? It's called take 10.

Here, here!
Rolling a d20 every few steps gets real tiresome! Usually, the DM just lets the rogue roll whether there's traps or not, and on a 1, he wipes out!

"You failed to find the trap -- I declare the thief, Blackleaf, is dead."

Indeed, thieves reeked badly in previous editions. Now rogues are better. Plus, you aren't supposed to pick your friend's pockets anymore. :D

According to "Life's Bazaar", the "Traps" ability will be called "Trapfinding" in 3.5. "Trap Sense" is a higher level Rogue (and, according to "Flood Season", Barbarian) ability.
