The biggest (and coolest) miniature ever!!!

$100... Honestly for what minis go for, that sounds a very fair price for that size, even in resin. Unfortunatly, in my book, a company expecting costomers to pre-order something without getting a good look and then also dropping the old "limited time" and "Limited quantity" buzzwords sounds highly suspect. The dragon's bodyshape, neck lenght and headstyle could all be dealbreakers.

I received more details on Magnificent Egos' Greater Dragon. The dragon will in fact not be all metal, but be made almost entirely of resin with a few metal pieces. A bit different from what I heard when talking with them at GTS. I also received the below details and pricing concerning the dragon.

Majestic. Inspiring. Breathtaking. She’s all that and more. Weighing in at a full 21 inches in length, 24 inches in height and with an impressive 25 inch wingspan, Viszeralyn will surely be the centerpiece of any miniature collector’s gallery. In August of 2006, Magnificent Egos will unleash Viszeralyn on the world.

Viszeralyn is so ancient it is said she is older than even the gods themselves. All dragons grow in size and might as they age; meaning Viszeralyn has achieved truly colossal proportions. Her age and wisdom allow her to transcend good and evil to the point of ultimate impartiality. This gives her incredible insight, but also makes her potentially the most dangerous entity in all creation. Bring Viszeralyn to your game table if you dare.

This dragon is truly a mammoth project and, according to our records is the largest, single project ever undertaken in the miniatures industry (including pre-painted miniatures). It was designed by Jason Engle and sculpted by industry favorite Sandra Garrity. Viszeralyn will weigh in at over twice the size of any other piece released this year or in recent memory. She is 21 inches in length and has a 25 inch and 10 inch wingspan. She is over 11 inches across and 8 inches deep at the base and stands a full 24 inches in height. To scale, Viszeralyn is literally the equivalent of putting a 10-story building on your game table.

MEO4011 Viszeralyn, The Oracle (Greater Dragon) $99.99 MSRP

Due to the enormous complexity of this project, Viszeralyn will only be available in limited quantities for a limited time. However in order to make sure that we can meet demand, beginning at the GAMA Trade Show, Magnificent Egos will begin soliciting preorders. Contact your local retailer today and ask him to preorder Viszeralyn to make sure you get yours when the dragon is released in August.

Thalmin, I will ask. Are you taking pre orders currently?

They're not expecting people to pre-order it yet. The option isn't even available on the website. Its just a quick tease until the full website is launched. Yeah, they're going to play it up a bit and drag it out, but who cares? If that was my product, I'd do the same thing. When the full website is released you'll be able to see it before you can buy it.

Sandra Garrity does outstanding dragons (she's good at everything else, too).

But I've had serious problems with the management at Magnificent Egos and will NEVER buy anything from them, EVER.

Nor would I ever reccomend anyone else buy from them, either.

I dunno. I've bought a lot of Magnificent Egos minis and have never had a single issue with the quality or the people. Everyone's experiences are bound to vary.

Can I ask what happened? They have been professional with me and I've been dealing with them for 2+ years...

Yes, please explain. While I hate "marketing speak", It is not something I’d boycott over. I assume the issue goes beyond the employees being egotistical, since their name does give ‘fair warning’. Plus sometimes one gets the rotten apple employee that is only still employed there because the high ups never have received complaints.
