The Crux of the Matter

(OOC: Just think--if Vanitri had just failed that Reflex save and died, and then Tenny had her soul absorbed, Rinaldo could be the Survivor!

Seriously though, good job--there are a lot of ways that fight could have gone worse.

Although, granted, there were also a lot of ways it could have gone better. But I won't rag on you guys by listing them all (I think ignoring the other magic items was pretty blatant though, as one example).

In original playtest, the fight almost never went worse than this (1/6th TPK, 1/6th one death, 4/6 no deaths) , but when I recalibrated my playtest to take into account a few of the choices you guys made, you wound up ending pretty well (of the 4 new playtests based on your choices, 2/4 were TPKs, 1/4 had Ashna, Vanitri, Tenny dying, 1/4 had just Vanitri dying)

OOC: Seriously, with so much wild magic in our face, seeing all the side effect we can see in the different item we have seen, I think it is just some common sense that make us not use some of the items without knowing what they are doing.

(OOC: Yeah, but I like that one as an example because it doesn't single anyone out and look like I'm picking on them ;) Most of my other examples were when a single person did something deleterious)

OOC: Like not fleeing when Sin arrive? Or maybe letting Eve (in Laynie's body) come back to Sin? Or trying to make Greed go wild and finish grappling Ashnar? (well, that's make two out of three that are my mistake :p )

"I am stable for now. Without Guile though we have no source for a stoneskin spell. And without that I'm not going to live beyond this tower. I am stable for now so we had better figure out what to do. I don't buy Sin's story, but I trust you Rinaldo. I'll do what you say and if you want to try and save Hogarth, I'll try to help. Though I'm not sure if I'll be of any use to anyone." replies Tenebrynn.

(ooc: dispelling Hogarth's fire protection probably counts pretty badly. Tenebrynn wanted to try all the magic items but when I started taking everything I felt greedy and didn't want to take more.)

"Thanks for your trust Tenebrynn. I want not only to save Hogarth, but Ashnar too, and you... all of us. If we can get out alive of all that... *sigh* But up to now, the best option I see, it is Sin offer, at the condition she keep her word. I think the best way to do so, it is to offer her no other choice than to keep it. But even then, it means she end with Laynie's body..." Rinaldo felt silent a moment.

"How can you trust someone who call himself Sin and have created aspect like Pride, Wrath and Greed?"

Rinaldo think a moment.

"And if we find her body instead? She needs a body, she want her body. Let's get her body, she won't need Laynie's one."

"Her body? What body is that? She is supposed to be the evil aspects of Elayne Valsice (sp?) right? But hasn't she been dead for a long time? Vanitri, I'm not really sure I get this whole conundrum, but you know the history of this woman best." says Tenebrynn.

"There is another Elayna Valsice, that managed to crawl out from her soul being stored in a book, and she does have a body," Vanitri says.

"As for giving up Laynie, that's something I just can't do. She's family 'far as I'm concerned, and you just don't give up on 'em."

"I understand Vanitri, but I can't let the soul of Hogarth into her hand, he has the right to at least go back to his god. And I think you owe him this too. That why I have suggested to find her body, so we wouldn't have to give Laynie." asks Rinaldo. "And where is her body now?"
