The Crux of the Matter

"And normally if I read a warning like that I'd rather heed it. But this tower is tearing at the fabric of magic in the area and it will likely rip it apart if it continues. Whatever is inside must be dealt with. Whether the tower is an attempt to imitate the Towers Arcane or not, it is failing at whatever purpose it was designed to do. I will need some time to alter my selection of available spells before we try though." replies Tenebrynn.

He pauses as Laynie explains her thoughts, "But if you do prepare for the case where it needed to be unsealed, how would you allow it to be unsealed in that case?"

"Well, I'm not that clever, but if somebody was trying to be clever, maybe they'd play on their words? I dunno, I'm just a little girl--this is hard mystery stuff."

"Oh, don't be silly--Elpis isn't ancient Medibarian; it's Velysian, one of the older languages that has shaped the modern trade common language that has spread throughout the world in the past milennia. It means Hope."

"I'm sorry, what I meant to say is, when you read the writing on the door, did you translate the name Elpis into the common language of today? or did you read it directly from the ancient Medibarian written on the door? Just wondering if the word itself might be some kind of key." says Tenebrynn.

(ooc: Moria anyone?)

"Elpis is the Velysian. I didn't translate to Common because it was out of place in the Ancient Medibarian so I thought it was meant to be read in the original language--did I do bad, Mister Tenebrynn?"

"I dunno. I thouht maybe could be a name though. I remember reading that sometimes names gets passed down and used between languages, though sometimes they change--for instance, my name originally came from the Velysian girl's name Elen, though it is much more famous for being named after the Medibarian Magequeen."

"Yeah, but the coincidence of Elpis meaning hope is too troublesome. Coincidence exists, but I rather not consider it at first." Rinaldo looks at the writtings but he doesn't understand anything more than Ashnar. "Is Elpis written in the same alphabet? I can't tell, there is not enough written for me to analyze it clearly. If the writers took the trouble to write Elpis down with a different alpahabet, it means he wanted to put some emphasis on that word."
