The Faerie Woods [Knight Otu Judging]

"I don't know if they are enchanted, but they sure don't seem to be normal wolves. Somethings wrong with those things!"

Looking over the sword, Trimble grimaces.

"Can you feel the power coming off this thing? I suppose I can fix it, though it will be difficult, and I would normally only attempt such a feat for a king's ransom in gold. If you kill these evil wolves, though, I will attempt it."

Ishmael examines the body when Nars points it out. He goes into the cottage afterward.

Hmmm... these are no wolves but Worgs! Sinister and intelligent hunters that are far more than the large, shaggy beasts that they appear to be. They must be dealt with!

Master Trimble, dost thou know why these wolves hunt thee? Or where they lair?

OOG1: Spot Roll (1d20-1=8)
OOG2: Know: Arcana roll (1d20+7=20)
OOG3: How was the Worg killed? By fireball? Or by Magic Missile?
OOG4: What else does my Know: Arcana roll tell me about Worgs?

"I do not know, Sir Knight. While my cottage lies far from my nearest neighbor, I have not had such problems before. Do these Worgs have some special preference for Human flesh?"

Ishmael shakes his head not from ignorance, but from understanding. His readings of Arcane lore in St. Feragon's Monastery, the Halls of Stonepike and even in Rilthorne's Tower had given him glimpses of the nature and behavior of Worgs.

These are cruel, rapacious beasts, ser. It is not that they crave human flesh, but the fact that they relish the struggle and the screams of the tortured and dying. These are truly foul creatures! Ishmael's tone is that of disgust and loathing.

OOG: hopefully, I'm not too far off from the truth. if I am, please correct me. or else, blame it on his crappy wisdom

Nars can not help a wry smile forming on his lips. It appears Trimble's misfortune is our gain as there is no other way we could fund the reforging of the sword. He says nothing. While looking things over, his flask finds it way into his hand. Magic faeries stronger than an ox, giant wolves, sleep spells, horses. He tips the flask and only realizes what he is doing when he is disappointed by the faint dribble. "Rust." he mutters under his breath.

The dead worg seems to have several burn upon its body, which you suspect means it was caught in the area of a fireball. The rippling disruptions of flesh that a magic missile typically leaves would be hard to detect under the shaggy black coat.

Percy

"You're very sweet, Trimble. I'm not as attuned to magic weapons as you. Can you tell what sort of powers this blade has?"

To the others. "OK. Let's get organized. The cottage is defensible for us, but not for our horses. I'd like to kill these beasts, too. Not just chase them off. Let's have a look around."

Percy leads the others back outside. "Now Fridly. I want you to head off into the trees. Don't go too far. Catch some mice & birds to eat & look out for wolves. You know them. Furry, four legged, owl-eating creatures. If you see any, come back to me as fast as you can." She then pushes Fridly off.

"Nars, do you see any good trees you could climb where you or I would be safe? Let's see if there are any outbuildings for the horses. If not, perhaps we could simply tie them loosely, & assume the worgs will defend themselves against us instead of attacking them."

Nars steps back outside and loads his crossbow with a standard bolt. He takes a look around for any climbable trees or high hills to get a higher vantage point. "I, ah, wish Morulas hadn't dis-ah-ppeared. Odd fellow, but his skills would, er, come in handy now."
