Why is it is so important that you win an argument on the Internet? You've stated your case, someone disagreed, and that should have been the end of it but no, you feel like you've been issued a challenge. You need to prove something now. So you argue, then double down, then dig in in your heels. You snipe, you goad, you nitpick, you twist and pivot, you type out walls of text that you know nobody will ever read but that's okay, you don't mind, it's an excuse to yell about how nobody is reading your posts and that's actually their fault, right?

Do you ever stop to ask yourself why you care so much? Clearly their disagreement bothers you, and bothers you a great deal, but why? Do you take everything this personally? or is this the first time someone disagreed with you?

Nobody cares how "right" you are on the internet, friend. And even if we did, is it worth making yourself look like a huge (expletive) in public?

Anybody else read this and think of the “real men of genius” ad campaign from the early aughts?

There could be a [DUEL] tag, wherein each involved poster chooses a faithful second and moves their argument to the mutually named thread at dawn, marches ten paces, turns, and shoots their mouths off.
