That's not actually what it says.

The real synopsis:

UK Fact Checking organization says, "Um, we don't think the backfire effect is as large as some people say, besides, the research is American, and we're British."

Generally, the overall evidence is that there is an effect, just weaker than the original studies ... and, of course, more work needs to be done. That said, it shouldn't keep you from attempting to correct misinformation, especially when the correction can appear close to (proximity both spatially and temporally) to the misinformation.

(I'm hesitant to list OneD&D alongside bigotry and war, though. Contrary to what I keep hearing on social media, OneD&D isn't actually, actively killing people.)

if cradle robbing is when an old guy goes after a girl young enough to be his kid, does that mean that grave robbing is when a girl goes after a guy old enough to be her dad?

If you treat these Unearthed Arcana releases as untested ideas and optional 'house rules' to experiment with in your home game, as Wizards of the Coast has always intended for you to treat them...

...instead of treating them as The Permanent And Immutable Future Of The Hobby As We Know It that some people really want them to be...

...you'll notice an immediate improvement in your blood pressure, mood, and general sense of well-being.

so, I had a commission done by a friend of one of the characters in my book

Yeah. When the news broke yesterday I couldn't help but laugh. Four months ago they saw a huge surge in new players thanks to the OGL debacle...and now they're revising their books. So all those players who just bought the books...are immediately told they will have the opportunity to buy them all again in a few months. Ridiculously bad timing.
Good thing I've been holding off on it then.

Good thing I only buy the books I want instead of buying ALL the books

EDIT: I just looked the shelf with my RPG books and realized that they aren't all together, but instead separated by non-rpg books

So this isn't worthy of a full Geek Talk review (and a little far afield) so I though I'd post this here.

I watched John Mulaney's Baby J special on Netflix last night. It was ... actually quite amazing. It's said that the best comics turn personal pain into comedy. I'm not sure that fully believe that, but I do know that this was both incredibly funny and also pretty devastating, and if you've been following Mulaney news, you know he had a lot of material to turn into comedy.

If you like great standup, it's worth your time. (Note- there are discussions of drug abuse and rehab, so if that's a no-go for you, don't watch.)
