Sometimes though it’s not coming from a place of FOMO or even really a big problem with the direction of OneDnD.

For me it comes from being excited about many of the changes and then watching in disappointment as all those really cool ideas get flushed down the toilet.

Doesn’t mean I hate 5e. Just that I like the new stuff and thought it made the game better.

Unrelated to other conversations in this thread, I promise: I could demonstrate how you're wrong, but it'd be like wrestling a pig.

I've now seen you say that game is actually not great, but mediocre, twice.

I am typing this now as it puts me in a state of near existential dread, catatonic, that I feel compelled to not just tell you you are wrong, but so wrong that I cannot possibly form a response to outline how utterly wrong you are. Its wrong in loops, in powers, in an echo chamber of wrong.

1. You are wrong.
2. Return to 1.

There is no realm in which your opinion on this is correct. Categorically, there is no debate possible, you are wrong to a degree I will scream this into the void while sleeping tonight.

Thank god for this thread.

Every time I feel like rejoining SWTOR, I look at how many expansions I've missed and apparently how the plot line makes huge jumps back and forth, and it doesn't seem worth starting over again.

I did love the heck out of my Sith Juggernaut in the vanilla version of the game, though. A pure villain with no self-doubt about it.

I'm not much into the overarching plot, since I'm really just a casual player - I've only got the one character, who'd level 62 as of a couple days ago. I just recently got into it because it was free on Steam, but apparently the 6.0 and 7.0 updates to the game changed quite a lot about how the character classes were done...
As a pure grinder/time waster I've found it pretty entertaining, but I'm kind of annoyed by the fact that you have the option to have your character wear a set of gear for the stats but look like they're wearing a different set of gear, and yet it's not quite flexible enough to pull off what I want to do with it...

The tendency to conflate personal taste with quality is nearly universal.

Nearly... I'm one of those weird folks who often appreciates something either despite or even because of just how absolutely objectively bad something is. (As evidenced by my Rocky Horror fandom, lol.)
