I...I did not know that. I figured there must be some kind of failsafe brake, but it looks like there isn't.

I may never ride an escalator again.
Ugh. I used to work in product safety. One of the joys of my job was reading reports of kids being sucked into escalators. Now, as others have said, they are actually very safe. And as it turns out, while they don't have a fail safe brake, they do have stop buttons. They should be on the right side at the bottom and top of the escalator. So in the rare situation where you see someone having a problem on an escalator, now you know how to help them.

Why, because vegan muffins are.... I got nothin'.

....weirdly, that's also the subtext of most of the ... um ... pizza arguments ... we have here.

Speaking of food things. I've been vaguely pondering giving up beef for <reasons> except maybe St. Patrick's Day (corned beef), Christmas Eve (standing rib-roast), and when a guest somewhere.

I actually ordered a chicken sandwich yesterday instead of a pimento cheese burger (I mean I get chicken a lot, but it was at my favorite burger place). I didn't die from skipping it. Yet.

I am glad that most sausage in the US is not made from beef, lamb, or goat... or I would be forced to introspect to actually see if I cared enough about <things> to make this relatively small change in my lifestyle. If nothing else, the existence of vegans might keep my ego in check about this great sacrifice.

Also, I just realized I'm apparently nuking gyros too.
